Hey there!

So I was wondering what everyone's favourite Guinea pig sub breed is?!
I personally love the look of Peruvian and Abyssian types but I also love the caring nature of the Abyssian (I have three!)
What are all your thoughts?
Please share your pics!

Abyssinian without a doubt for me, then the american or uk smooth whichever you want to call it 👍. I'm not a fan of longer haired guinea pigs, but id still love them all the same. I just wouldnt want to be grooming and trimming them often.

Abyssinians are perfect if you want a bit more of an exotic looking pig without keeping up with grooming. I do brush them but not often.

And for Rabbits i absolutely love the lion head breed. Beautiful

Abyssinian for me too, mine has such a bad tempered nature! I have a young teddy/teddy mix, he is so cute I think he has to come a close second. I've never seen or met a piggie I didn't like though!

I absolutely love any of the longhaired piggies, closely followed by curly haired piggies...typically the 2 I am most allergic to XD so the curly coated longhairs would have to be my favourites. (I apologise for going overboard with the pictures but you did ask lol!) I find their personalities to be the most chilled and docile with the biggest characters, but that could be because I find I bond closer with them due to all the extra time together grooming!

My Bramble had the most beautiful coat..she was like a little sheep :)

I love all piggies the same, but I’ve only ever kept short haired piggies, Bacon’s fur being on the longer side

Aby's used to be my favourite but once I ended up with a teddy guinea pig, they have stolen my heart!

My long haired coronet made me fall for them too! And Himalayans will always be my favourite piggie colour!

I prefer piggies with some hair whether curly or straight. My favorite would have to be long haired ones like my boy Finn and I love his brown color. I would also love to have teddy kind that have curly hair but I have not seen them at the pet shops or anywhere for that matter.

It is easier to find dogs of specific breed, shapes and sizes here in the US than curly or long haired piggies. Almost everyone I know have dogs here.

Oh my goodness look at all the fluffs! I had such a good time looking through the pics. We recently adopted a very fluffy little 3 month old. I have a feeling she's going to need regular trimming as her fur is already looking like a skirt!

Can I ask what it was about teddy's that made you fall in love? I haven't had one of them!
I love a himalayan coat, I have a golden Agouti who is gorgeous too.

I have 3 smooth and 3 Abby's. So hard to choose, but all of my smooth piggies are more affectionate and love attention. The abbys would rather be left alone. Lol. Except for my Finn. He loves a good head rub.

Agoutis are my favourite colours, but I must say short hairs are the breed for me.. I recently got my first long hair piggy, curly hair, I'm thinking some kind of alpaca or something, and also my first Abyssinian, but I've only had smooths up to now! I love having a wide range of hairs and colours. Heres a few pigtures :drool:IMG_20190420_210459.webp

Don't forget the smoothies hehe

I do find long hair gives me more things to worry about. He's had about four hair cuts since I first got him about 3 weeks ago haha

Honestly they are such cheeky and stubborn, determined little piggies.
My first one Matthew would do whatever he wanted. He loved hugs and attention. Chin rubs and strokes. If you annoyed him though he would let you know with a swift kick. Or a few if you continued it. He did this to both me and his cage mate. He was hilarious. He loved eating shoes. He threw a tantrum when something annoyed him once and destroyed everything that got in his way (never seen a piggie throw a bath plug before)!
I missed having a teddy and a few years later got another. My current Teddy (Yugi) is just as determined and stubborn as Matthew was. Yugi is constantly causing trouble by squeezing through things, climbing on things. I just find these piggies determined to do whatever they have planned and no one gets in their way :))
They are such mischief makers.

Of course this may not be the breed but its my experience with them so far. I got Yugi as a baby from a store and even scared in a new area she did what she wanted. I walked in to find she had somehow climbed the bars like a hamster to see my other piggies :))

I love the look of teddy guinea pigs! They look so fluffy! And longhaired gps look nice too but my longhaired guinea pig needs brushing everyday and she needs her fur trimming otherwise whenever she goes to the toilet it is covered in pee! So i think shorthaired gps are the best for maintenance (and they’re just as cute as longhaired gps)

I'm partial to long-haired pigs... two of my sweetest girls have been long-haired crosses. Not a specific breed, but I also like red-eyed pigs... a lot of people are weirded out by animals with red eyes and I always feel like they don't get chosen as quickly. Ironically right now none of our pets have red eyes... Hadley and both hamsters have dark eyes, Leela has heterochromia with one brown eye and one grey/blue eye, but no one is red.

I think I’d have to say agoutis! I seem to have a soft spot for them. And smooths and teddy’s...the ones I have 😁 I like the look of some long haired but the maintenance looks like a job in itself!
