Please write below with reasons why they are your dream pig. Pictures are welcome.

I've never met a guinea pig I didn't like. If you twisted my arm I'd probably say any breed but my favourite hair type would be silver agouti.

While I typed that you posted a silver agouti! and my second favourite colour Red/ginger.

I so agree with you. Omg they are adorable 🐹

All guineas are adorable, but I have a particular soft spot for coronet-type pigs. The regular hair trimming can be quite annoying though...
I also love the really scruffy 'mongrel' piggies who seem to have been created with a bit of everything!
Here's a picture of one of my old coronet-type pigs partway through one of many dreadful haircuts. 🙄

Hahaha a cow, what sort of things made her moody?
Anything and everything and whenever she felt like it. She was such a character and such a stroppy madam. Most of the time she was just one lovely piggie. Loved her husboar Dennis from the moment she set eyes on him and the feeling was mutual. He must have loved her because he had to put up with her moods. Here they both are snuggled up together.

Sounds like me and my boyfriend. I 😆 🤣

As a forum we are pro rescue and anti intentional breeding so most of the piggies we see on here are not purebred but a mixture of breeds. Having said that, I have a real thing for Aby pigs - the ones I have owned or fostered always seem to have so much personality. But I’ve had teddies, rexes, a coronet, Shelties, mixed long and short hair fuzzies, and realistically I’ve never yet met a purebred or mixed breed piggy that I didn’t like

I was creating a fun poll without mentioning breeding. AS I have no intrest in breeding any sort of animal. Especially not guinea pigs. I think you have misunderstood what the poll was about. Its light hearted fun and I think It's fine and okay to have preferences for colors, breeds, or genders in guinea pigs otherwise I wouldnt of been told on this fourm on the first post I've ever made by other members is to adopt boars as they are beginner friendly . I also support rehoming, and I've thoroughly read and understood the forum rules. Sounds like you have had alot of pigs. Congratulations 🎊

My smooth haired piggies have been and are stunning, sleek and silky

IMG_0697.jpeg Keziah - tri coloured supermodel

IMG_5429.jpeg Phoebe a Dutch potato

IMG_0018.webp Ruth a feisty character

However I do have a soft spot for teddies although I’ve only had one, Keziah’s sister, Jemimah

I think you’ve misunderstood my response. You mentioned dream breed in the title and poll. But most of us won’t (unless we join the cavy fancy or specifically look for a breed specific breeder) come across many of these breeds or know much about them. Many pet shop piggies are also a bit of a mixture of breeds. And yes, I’ve had a lot of different piggies over my many years of keeping piggies. Most have been adopted through the rescue (including some purebreds who have come from breeder rescues).

I guess my favourite breed are ginger and white abys. I have always had one in succession with only relatively short gaps for the last 20 years. Because they are a popular breed, I have tried to keep it to one adoption roughly every 4 years but have taken care to never go for close lookalikes of my most special piggy ever, Minx. Most of them overlap a little apart from the pandemic-related gap in 2021 when companionship needs after a rash of several losses took precedence; but I have certainly made up for that! Most of them were not pure breds, including Minx.
I just love having one around. I've also been careful to give them all very differently themed names.

Taffy 'Beloved' (2009-14) and her daughter Telyn 'Harp' (for her loud voice; 2009-11)
Rescued in Northeast England, adopted from a Scottish rescue as part of a massive rescue action

Pili Pala 'Butterfly' (2013-18)
Adopted from West Yorkshire after a 5 months wait, due to a persistent mange mites problem resulting from being born in a hellhole.

Beryn 'Candytuft' (2017-21)
Adopted from North Wales; ex-single with bonding issues found dumped on the grounds of a cricket club.

The Cornish Family (2022 - )
Fulfilling my last bucket dream of adopting a dumped piggy family wholesale with all babies already born in rescue or still on the way. The three parents (mother Modron 'Mother Goddess' with daughter Millyn 'Sweet Violet' and son Barcud 'Red Kite'; both sows pregnant by Barcud) were caught by a forum member in dog walking wasteland.
All boars are of course neutered. The family has been reunited for a quick photoshoot on the anniversary of the rescue.

Sons Brangwyn 'White Raven' and Baeddan 'Boar' are Modron's babies and Blodyn 'Flower' is Millyn's daughter

But I love have loved every of my coming up to 100 piggies that have passed through my life in half a century, each in their own way since each bond is unique.
I also love long-haired perus, coronets and shelties - reminder of my childhood piggies. Grumpy teddies, grounded cresteds (especially red and white ones), plain or long-haired ones in lilac, white and gold; black and golden piggies and all the unique crosses. I love ruby eyes as much as dark eyes.

Most of my piggies have been adopted for other reasons than looks and a surprising number have come here sight unseen as the rescue's choice and some were last minute additions. To be honest, many of the biggest and most lovable characters were not necessarily the prettiest piggies and quite a few of my 'lookers' turned out pretty complex personalities, to say it a bit more nicely.
I have however indulged once every year in a 'long shot' adoption of a special piggy where there wasn't the immediate need for giving a piggy with companionship issues a home and find them a friend or to help free up urgently needed rescue space by offering stuck in rescue piggies a home or making space for an emergency to take specific looks into concern and travel to a rescue further afield.
All of my Minx successors were in the 'indulgence' category even if they also fulfilled the above criteria. I was just more picky about who I enquired for and was looking around a bit further every 4 years to find the perfect match... :)

You can look them all up with their picture and story in my Tribe Gallery thread: Wiebke's Tribe Photo Gallery

I just love an Abyssinian Guinea pig!

But you cant go wrong with a classic American Smooth-Haired, and if they have a whorl on their head that just makes them even better 😍

I have had a whole group of ginger cresteds at one point; one of them was a proper American crested (Hafren 'Severn'/Sabrina). I love all my cresteds in whatever colours; they always were the backbone of my groups who anchored all the other big personalities; mostly very evenly tempered and down to earth, get on with the job personalities.
Sadly down to my last tricolour crested Heilin, now - and she is turning 5 next month. :(

Tanni 'Fire' (peru x shorthair), Hafren, Heulwen 'Sunshine' and her sister Hedydd 'Skylark' and old Ffraid (Freya)IMG_5568_edited-4.jpg
- Tanni 'Little Fire' (2011-17)was an emergency rescue adoption who was so unhandleable that her awful breeder owner dumped her on a local rescue after just a week together with some no longer wanted boars in a really bad state - on Christmas Eve. Lucky escape! Her name really suited her.
- Hafren and her teddy mate arrived sight unseen in order to help clear cages from a rescue dealing with a baby boom after a lots of boxes containing (pregnant) breeder piggies were dumped on their drive one very early Sunday morning - each of the sows had 3-4 babies... Hafren and Nesta were no longer wanted children's pets whose dad had lost patience. (2012-19)
- Heulwen and Hedydd were babies from the first two litters from a 'cat's takeaway' backyard hoarding situation when their mum gave birth in rescue to another 6 baby girls. I adopted them from South Wales (UK) as playmates for my own surprise baby Tegan to grow up with. Both sows lived to celebrate their 8th birthday despite their bad start. (2011-19)
- 4 years old Ffraid arrived sight unseen as an emergency from a domestic abuse situation on Jersey running via another forum. Jersey SSPCA had a euthanising policy for any piggies deemed 'unrehomeable' at the time. (2012-15)
Most of my cresteds have names starting with an H.

Mum and daugher Hyfryd 'Lovely' (2017-22) and Hirael 'Long Brow' (2017-21) were stuck in rescue piggies in the next generation.

Currently I have Maelona 'Princess', daughter of Manon 'Queen' and Millyn 'Sweet Violet' from the Cornish Family.
Maelona was the rescue's choice of Manon's four rescue born babies to come with her as companions for bereaved Macsen 'The Greatest' who I had adopted earlier from the same rescue to carry on the smooth-haired red and white colour scheme. They are both smooths/Americans though.

But I also love my long-hairs... just to say!

Coronets Caron 'Loving' (2010-15), Ceri 'Love' (2009-14) and peru Tegan 'Little Beauty' (2011-19) with her auntie Ffwlbri 'Moonlight'(2011-19) and her mum Tesni 'Sun-warmed' (2011-18)

I still have Cerian 'Little Love' (2018-), named in memory of Ceri and Carwyn 'Blessed Love' (2015-18).
My current Carys 'Love' (2018-) is named in memory of Cariad 'Darling' (2009-14) and Calli (2018-19; 7 years old pensioner adoptee who lived to celebrate her 9th birthday) - the latter are my white, lilac and cream string).

My dream would be to have one in every breed and colour 🥰
Wouldn't that be lovely! Only having room for 6 piggies at once the gorgeous mongrels help, they can count as two or three breeds!
A Himi was one of my I'd really really like piggies but I never expected to have one. When Tom from Little Wheeker's took a pure bred Himi out of the box as a possible adoptee I was so surprised and excited. I was so happy to be allowed to adopt him. Just goes to show, although I would always take a rescue piggy who needs a home over any particular breed or colour, wishes can come true.
