one of my guinea pigs I got two days ago isn't doing good and I don't know what's wrong. My dad noticed she was lying on her side not really moving so we got her out and have been trying to feed her water and opened a window since we think she might be dehydrated and over heated She's come a little bit more alive.. kicking her leg ( like scratching) and sticking her tongue out but if we put her back in the cage she just goes back onto her side. Any ideas? The other one is fine

She sounds very ill - this is not normal behaviour.
Please arrange to have her seen by a vet asap.

If you have only had her for a couple of days the breeder or pet shop should cover the vet bills as she was clearly already unwell when she came to you.

Any luck getting your piggy seen?

It was really late night so we were going to take her into the vets as soon as they opened tomorrow morning but when I went to check on her not long later she wasn't breathing and I couldn't find a heartbeat. We're still taking her to see what was wrong and I'm going to keep a eye on the other piggy to make sure she's okay

I’m sorry. In these kind of circumstances you can’t wait till morning. I would book your other piggy in for a very check. Did you get them from a breeder, pet shop or rescue?

Unfortunately waiting till the morning was our only option. We got them from a pet shop yesterday afternoon.

If your remaining piggy is younger than four months she will need companionship as soon as possible.

You should also take this up with the pet shop as it is likely that they sold you (albeit unknowingly sold you) an ill animal. You have consumer rights based on the pet being ill and they should cover any additional costs you have as a result

I'm really sorry. :( Unfortunately pet shop piggies often are under a lot of stress and may come into your home with an illness. Given the timeframe, this poor little one definitely came to you already very sick.

It's unlikely that the vet will be able to tell you anything from observing the piggy that has passed, so I would keep the appointment for the remaining piggy. The vet can evaluate for common problems, like respiratory infections.

Because they were so new, you may be able to recuperate some of the vet cost from the pet store.

Again, so sorry, this is certainly not what anyone wants when they bring home new pets!
