Hi Everyone,

I want to know about your pairs, I always thought my pairs were normal that was until recently.

My pigs don't chatter, stomp, nip or behave aggressively together. Infact they follow each other around, eat together and groom one another.

I want to know whats normal and whats not do you have a harmonious pair or are they more on the blink of divorce?

I suppose my question is do you have bonded pairs that chatter, chase and threaten each other with nips?

xx>>>

My pair has been very loving. Llewelyn is rather dominant, but Dizzy didn't have an aggressive bone in her body and was all squeak - and lots of cuddles!

The only hairy situation I ever had was when Llewelyn had manoeuvred Ffion into a corner on intros and she beat him up a bit. He learned to be a bit more cautious around her, but they became good friends even though Ffion dominated him generally.

I think that once boy and girl have made it safely past introductions, agression and even spats are rare. Dizzy lost her temper only once and gave a literally hopping mad young Llewelyn a real headmaster's lecture while holding him by the ear. He never repeated his mistake!

The big question is always whether a girl will accept a boy in the first place - not all of them do, especially older and dominant ones.

Weibke that made me roar with laughter, the thought of him bouncing while being held by the ear and being shouted at!

My girls get on really well. The only time I have problems is when they're both in season, but then they are never aggressive about it, they just chase each other around grumbling :)).

My two boys get along well too, even though they dont cuddle up to one another for sleep, they do lie next to one another and stay very close together. They share hay, veg and food and groom eachother when they think no one is watching! :))

They also have a 'natter' when exploring and Joey is finally finding his voice after nearly 2years! But i have a sneaky feeling that they 'talk' the most when nobody is around.

They do sometimes have the odd spat when one of them wants to lie in a certain spot, but its never aggressive and only lasts a few seconds and then who ever it is popcorns off afterwards!

They hate being apart even if it just for a few seconds as they always squeak and try to climb the bars if one of them is out and one is in the cage, so i tend to try and do things together rather than apart.

:)

My trio of girls are a bit hit and miss. Generally, Pippa is happy go lucky and keeps herself to herself, but if Pixel is in Willow's way, she does still sometimes get shoved . They don't nip one another and never chatter, I think it's just Willow telling Pixel that she's in charge.

I think (and hope!) that as long as Willow will accept Boris, all four will become good friends. I expect her to ignore him as much as she can on introductions to be honest! And as long as he gets the message, finger's crossed all will be okay!

my boys can be a bit of a nightmare sometimes and are constantly rumbling and chattering at each other! I'm hoping it dies down once Sandy gets a bit older and nothing ever comes of it! One moment they will be bum waggling and then they will be popcorning away. Boys Eh!

My 2 girls get on really well. The only time there was any aggression was after Sukie had a baby and had been seperated for a month and was reintroduced. They chased each other round the cage but after a few hours were fine. :)

They never chatter or anything.

Cenci and Moxie (the boys) were always fine with each other, love at first sight. :) Cenci was happy to have a "brother" finally and Moxie was after a long journey home and happy to be back with another pig I'd say. When I introduced Meeko, Cenci tried to attack him. Fortunately (or not) my hand got in the way! rolleyes After a few days they settled down.

They don't chatter to each other. They will show dominance to each other, rumble strutting sometimes, Meeko will hump Moxie sometimes but not much now, cos Moxie is asserting his dominance. Meeko and Moxie have teamed up, and shown Cenci (the formerly dominant one) that they're boss! :)) So they sometimes try to nip at him if he is eating or drinking and they want it! But they don't actually bite or anything. They're really good boys overall.

My two get on well most of the time except when one is sat on top of their house (ususally Snickers) and he will bottom sway at Bugsy if he tries to get up - they used to share the house and will still do so some of the time but as a rule Snickers has made himself a bed of straw in the corner of the hutch and will sleep there most of thee time.

We rarely see or hear major falling out although there have been times when they are having their free-range play session that Snickers will be in a tunnel that Bugsy thinks he should have and they squabble a bit about that. Still not quite sure who is the dominant piggie as they seem to share hay, food, water and most of their toys quite amicably.

My 2 girls will always share food and water, etc, but they're sisters so I assume its because they have always shared. Lexi is definitely the dominant one though as Freya will always follow her everywhere if they are out and Lexi does occasionally put her in her place, but not often. They've never fallen out, fingers crossed :)).

Mine are a bit of a dysfunctional family... They interact all the time but will never really snuggle up or groom eachother. They are forever weeing eachother in the face and headbutting... Funny thing though is that when we were at the piggy meet up with lots of other piggies around they were more affectionate with eachother, grooming and stuff!

Peppa Pig wouldn't integrate into a group with my other pair of girls, so I found her a husband. It's still early days yet, but I'm so pleased at how they're settling in. He started out very confident but Peppa soon told him she wasn't having any of it and they settled really quickly.

Peppa's definately the boss and poor Simon is a bit hen pecked, but behaviour wise they're a lot calmer together than my pairs of boys are, but not as chilled out as my only pair of girls are.

Not one pair of my piggies are so close that they snuggle together though.

boys indeed!

mine do exactly the same, grumbling and popcorning! hopefully it'll get better with time and as they grow x

Hello, I've just been talking about this in my 'May have to seperate the boys' bit. My two have had a falling out and George took a nasty bite and I was wondering what the nose to nose behaviour meant and also the low grumbling sound they make when their space has been invaded. I'm still hoping they can work things out:...

I am presently pairing up my two year old Linney with 14 week old Sundae... so far it has been very amusing watching plump middle aged Linney trying to keep up with the bouncing baby! They are still working out the relationship, though so far all is going well.

Prior to this pairing we had Linney and Frenzy- they were purchased together and lived together for Frenzy's whole life. From day one Linney was the dominant pig. Most of the time they got along well, but we occasionally had squeaking fights over the pigloo- they would sleep side by side at night, but during the day Linney would randomly decide to periodically chase Frenzy out. It didn't matter if we had two, they would still sometimes scrap over the preferred pigloo. Frenzy also would become a bit bossy when she came into heat and would rumblestrut around and try to mount Linney... Linney was not at all interested and would often squeal and chase Frenzy off at those times as well. However we never had a serious fight and they always managed to resolve their differences with Linney still the 'queen pig' at the end of it.
