what would you do?

As you know I have had trouble getting Dr to eat and at the moment he is having syringe feeds every couple of hours.

Next week I have to be at work a lot more as the person I work with is away. Should I smuggle Dr in so I can continue his feeds or do it before I go and as soon as I get home? Dr gets very nervous leaving the house and I don't think he would really enjoy coming with me. What is more important - regular food or Dr's peace of mind? I know it sounds like a crazy idea but I wondered what you thought.

Regular food. How long are you working for? Can you not get someone else to do it? Where do you live? Maybe someone on here might be able to help you.
 
Where do you work? Would they not be understanding and let you take him along? Is there anyone else who can help with feeds at home?
 
I am in Bath. Monday I will be away from the house 8 till about 5. Home a bit earlier on Tuesday. Wednesday only away the morning, and Thursday 8-4.

I will think about taking him in. My office is very discreet - no-one of the public comes in and it's quiet and I will be on my own.
 
well feed him before you and then leave some food by him, the mashed up stuff, he may decide to just go over and eat it himself..
It wont be right to smuggle him in work, as if he doesnt like the travel, not fair to make him upset unneccesary.. you don't want to get caught, but if it is discreet then maybe..

Maybe someone can have him during the day if you really dont want to leave him?
 
I always take poorly pigs to work with me if they need syringe feeding.

I hide them in the stock cupboard and see to them at break/lunchtimes.

As long as you feed Dr on your free time no one can complain.

Being nervous is better than making himself more poorly - keep him in the dark and as quiet as you can to help with nerves.
 
I agree with Kate. Sounds like a better idea to bring him into work with you ;)
 
What did you decide in the end Lucinda? Is he sitting under your desk now? :D
 
no. Realistically I couldn't take him in today because i had completely forgotten ( shows how important it is) that I have to go to another dept for a job interview this afternoon. It would be hard to smuggle a guinea pig into a hospital - too much CCTV and beefy security men!

Not that you forgot on purpose.. you don't want to get in any trouble.. although I'm sure those beefy men would turn into pussy cats if they saw Dr! ;)
