Hi i currently have my 2 in a 5ft hutch it is a 2 storey but i prefer to keep it as one floor as i have read that they do not like ramps.
the C&C cages look good but do guinea pigs prefer to have a roof would they not feel too vulnerable with the open cages.
i want to change the hutch to be honest as they tend to sit in their hidey holes all day in the dark end of the hutch bit of a shame i would like to see them exploring etc or maybe piggies prefer to just spend the day like this?
i do have a outdoor run on the lawn but lately it is just too damp to put them out i am very new to owning piggies i have rabbits who live in a large aviary so want to do the very best thing for my 2 lady piggies as well.

mine love their c&c cages. as long as they have plenty of places to hide they are fine.I have fleece pegged over the cages where the litter trays are and fkeece forests and hideys

Presumably they would come indoors? C & C cages are only suitable indoors, they would not shelter them enough outside :)

I have a c and c cage and my piggies seem fine without a roof. They have cabins to hide in if they want to. I love the space c and c cages give. I made mine big enough so they do not need floor time.

I have c&c cages and also some shop bought one. I can honestly say they dont seem to care either way. I have shuffled them about several times and they dont seem happier in either. The only thong I would say is the seem happier when moved up to abigger cage as they like room to dash about

I used to have my 2 boys in a 2 story wood hutch with a ramp tunnel on the ramp & an attached run (kept indoors though). I used to keep their food in the run part so they were forced to come out in viewing distance often. One boy preferred to spend most of his time upstairs but in the wire front part so he could view the outside. Recently I switched to a wire cage that I put on top of tables so that the boys are at eye level when I am sitting down. The only hiding places they have are their fleece hideys. They certainly seem to prefer being higher up so I am not looming over them as they spend far more time laying out in the open & watching me. Even my son commented on how they did not run & hide when he was over the other day.

I have a 2 story rabbit hutch with a ramp, I've bought ramp tunnels from candecosies.co.uk and they love running up and down it. Floyd, the more nervous of the two used to hide a lot in the 'bedroom' part but I bought a straw tunnel hide with a hole in the side and now he loves sitting in his little tunnel on the top floor watching everything going on through the little hole! image.webpimage.webp

My boys have that house too! They love it soooo much. They chewed the front and side off! I had to cut the bottom out as they kept weeping in it. Did you get yours in p@h for about £13.00? I did x

I got mine from PetPlanet.co.uk but then got another one from amazon for about 13 as it was cheaper, mine love them too! I put puppy pads and fleece folded over in the bottom of mine so they stay really dry! I need to buy another one though, mine have eaten the front off as well! I've been threading long bits of hay over the holes and they think it's just the best game pulling it apart again!

Hah I'm the same! The last time the boys had theirs was around christmas. It's destroyed now! Good idea about the fleece and puppy pads though. I might try it thx x
Your hutch is fab where did u purchase it? I have 2 massive hutches that conjoin together for winter and it gives the pigs 20ft of space x I'll insert an image of it. This was taken in winter so around January or something

That's amazing, what a piggy palace, bet your boys love you! How many do you have in there? I bought mine from Country Wide, it's 6ft and really well built, except some of the wire was a little jagged and the bottom bit was wide chicken wire so I put some smaller wire behind it, just need to get some better latches for it now! x
