My guinea pig room is too full. I want to stack my two girls cages. I currently have two 5 by 3 c and c cages. I would like to stack them to give me more room and storage underneath. I can't decide if I should do 5 by 2, 6 by 2, or 5 by 3 stacked. I worry that five by 3 may not be as sturdy? Any thoughts? Thanks!

A 6 by 2 stacked would definitely be more sturdy than a 5 by 3 stacked. Make sure you have enough panels for the bottom and around the middle :)

You could get some long banquet tables and put all the cages on those and have storage underneath (that’s what I do) or you could put one cage on top and one underneath. It is more sturdy than the c and c grids. I even connected the bottom of the cage to the tables with zip ties because I was afraid some how the cage might fall off lol

I’ve got stacked 2x5’s. I cable tied all grids together, and also secured the base of the top cage by putting 2 long wooden (square) poles underneath - they fit in the gaps of the grids and go from one end to the other, with a little to spare. This enabled me to keep the bottom cage open, so only the back and sides have grids. I’ll try and post a picture when I get home.

Thank you! I have some poles I could use if I need to. I may put some grids perpendicular for extra support too. Not sure. I have to finish tomorrow. I am going to have to start tearing the other cages apart to finish the new one and it's bedtime. Lol. Gonna have to wait until tomorrow.

Wow - these sound like some amazing cage set ups.
I thought i was quite clever making tables to put mine on :))
I would love to see photos of them when you are done and yours too @Siikibam

That looks great, I never thought about stacking cages but if Tallulah is getting a new friend and her own C&C it might be an option as my current big cage is 26 sq feet of floor space already and the new cage would need to go in another room... cleaning might be tricky though, currently I just climb in my big cage with a dustpan and brush and a bin bag!

Yeah that's how I cleaned my cages too. It will be a bit different, but only being two grids wide instead of 3 I can reach all areas easily.

Nice! Remember those supporting pieces of wood underneath the top floor. I’ll see you a pic of mine in a moment. The front is completely open on the ground floor. I also used connectors. 👍🏾

I have four wood pieces under the top floor. You can't see them in the picture. It really helps support it! I think I used a few hundred zip ties 😂. My fingers hurt. Lol.

I redid the cages again 😂. I couldn't reach the top cage. I am only 5'1. 😣. Here is the finished product. I am so much happier with this! I can reach everything now. It is also much sturdier.
