we lost our old boy ,ginge yesterday. hed been not quite right for a day or so-nothing I could put my finger on, just sleepier & eating less, so at the age of 7 he passed away in his sleep. going to miss his little face :-(
that leaves us with his friend kristoff whos 2.5 years. and we also have 2 young sows that are 10 weeks.
kristoff is on his own & looks terrified, never been a brave piggy but was getting better-today hes hiding from us.
he is in a house the other end of garden away from girls, I don't want to have him neutered because I know its still a bigish op for little pigs, would he be ok next to the girls on his own, or should I really be looking to get a young male as company? my gut feeling says to get another one, I'm just wary incase it goes wrong & then need another cage,& have 2 separate boys!

thanks, yes I had a read earlier. I will move him near to the girls while I work out what to do. x

:(Very sorry to hear of the loss of Ginge.
As Kristoff is still very young at only 2.5 years, I think it would be a good idea to get him neutered so that he can live with the two girls. Although it is always risky operating on such small animals, neutering is a relatively simple operation and non-invasive, and Kristoff is young, strong and healthy. He has a very good chance of coming through it. You can house him close to but separate from the girls, so that they can get to know each other before - and for SIX WEEKS after the op. :tu:

hes been out for grass time today & seems perkier. hes not shown much interest in the girls, which surprised me! will see how he goes this week, I'm just not keen on the idea of getting him done- not sure if there are any vets on the island that are much cop with guineas :hmm:
