Hi

Was holding Belle this morning and noticed something creamy-white on her bits. I picked at it thinking it would just fall off but it just kept coming out of her. See pics below. It was about an inch long.
Please tell me this is normal!

Thanks!

I'm presuming Belle is a girl because its a girly name?

I ask because my daughter posted a few days ago about something that looked very similar to that which came out of her boars penis but it was much thinner. We were told it was a sperm rod though so I dont know what that could be if it came from a sow.

Yeah Belle is a girl. My initial thought was 'oh christ - it's a sperm rod - she's a boy' Panic, panic, panic! But i've tripled checked and she is definately a girl!

My first thought too was are you sure she is a girl? This looks like a sperm rod. If you are 100% she is female, then I would consider taking her to the vets for a check up. Very strange...

Is she housed with a boy who has perhaps had his wicked way with her?

No - she's in with her Mum, Aunty and Sister. All of whom I'm certain are girls.

Hmmm I would be going straight to the vet because that looks exactly like a sperm rod to me! :{

Can you post pics of all 3 of them, their bits i mean, looks like a sperm rod to me too.....

If your 100% she's a girl... Have you double checked no one else in the group is a boy...?
Because it does look suspiciously like something that would be in the male anatomy...
What might be a good suggestion is to post some photos of all of your pigs privates to have a look at wether they are all girls...?
x

Christ. I was really hoping this would be a normal girl thing! I've read online about moucos plugs - could it be this?!
Will post pics tonight of her sister and aunty's bit. Obviosuly I'm sure her Mum is a girl!

I'd have thought mucus plugs would be pregnancy related...
Best to check everyone's sexs first... Id probably phone the vets and talk to him and see what he thinks it may be...
x

From what I've read I think mucus plugs occur when they are in season. I'm really worried now :-(

Could do... But that's quite a sizable one...!
I'd just give the vet a bell and talk to him on the phone... Its the best thing to do to put your mind at rest...
Might be something simple but bizarre that we haven't heard of before...
Don't stress your self out...

Definately get Belle checked. I've never had girls but with lots of boys in the house we are forever fishing things that look like that out of them.

Posting pics of all 3's bits for comparison would help too. When they are tiny it's sometimes quite hard to tell...

Don't panic though, plenty of help on here to help you get it sorted out (+vet too)

I hope the vet can shed some light on it and hopefully put your mind at rest.X

Storm (RIP) had mucus (sp?) plugs which were fairly sizeable and freaked us out so it is a possibility. I hope vets put your mind at ease.

Right photos below of the sisters and aunty viviennes bits!

Not a great photo of Vivienne but I've had 2 vets confirm she is a girl so not too worried that she might be a boy!

Sorry if I added to the panic. I'm glad someone in the know came along!

Just to let you know I found something similar from a baby girl. I panicked like crazy - "is she a boy?" "is she pregnant?" but I'm pretty sure it was a mucus plug (probably after her first ovulation). She certainly wasn't a boy or pregnant and that was about 6 months ago now. Hope that helps you stop panicking a bit :) x
