i was wondering if anybody had any ideas of homemade cage cleaner because cage cleaner can get really pricey and i dont want to use a cleaner that will affect the piggies health so does anybody have any solutions they use?

I spray the johnsons small pet cage cleaner on a wet wipe and use it to clean the cage. I don't often spray the whole cage as such. I clean the cage often so it rarely gets too bad. Not keen on lots of chemicals or strong smells, and yes the cost.

White vinegar is good. Don't buy from the cleaning aisle though as it's more expensive. Look in the supermarket where the vinegars are. I used to get Tesco own brand for 50p when I use it. I now buy F10 concentrate and mix it in a spray bottle. It costs around £20 on Amazon but lasts for ages

Guinea pigs have a much stronger sense of smell than us and they use scent for communication, the vinegar I tried smelled too strong for them.

We used to use the johnson's cage cleaner but it didnt shift the wee stains so we now use white vinegar (£10 for 10 litres) from Amazon once a month for a deep clean- it does smell a bit but we open the window while we do it then rinse thoroughly afterwards! For quick cleans we just wipe round the cage with child and pet safe disinfectant floor wipes, then let it dry, same as we use to clean the laminate flooring in the house :)

I have used F10 for the last 5 months, I buy it concentrated from Amazon and mix it in a spray bottle.

I use diluted vinegar with a dash of soap. @Black piggies you shouldn’t need that much vinegar. If you dilute it it shouldn’t smell that much. I think I do about 1 part vinegar to...3-4 parts water. And a splash of washing liquid.
