So I'm a soon to be piggie owner so I'm trying to sort everything out. For there cage (C&C indoors) i have a 150x85cm space for it and I'm wondering what size will fit. I'm going to be getting my grids from Wayfair so each grid is 31.1x31.1cm :)

Thank you in advance, I'm really not sure what size I should get :/

I agree with Emily. A 2x4 would fit easily, you could even push a little bigger! Welcome to the forum!

It really depends on what side loft. The standard size loft at 1x2 grid size takes 7 grids and a half to protect the stairs, plus you'd have the ramp to sort out too.

Can you make the ramp out of correx?

With enough layers of correx you could, but it isn't the most stable of materials. You are probably better using U-shaped bent grids, U shaped guttering or wood. They can all have carpet or fleece added to aid in grip.

Yes it would work, just make sure it has sides so they can't fall :)

Just had a thought after looking at some YouTube videos by PiggiePigPigs, if you had no grids could the piggies get over correx 20/25cm high?

Yes they will as they chew it. Big holes... One of my boys chewed a huge hole in a few hours if I didn't have grids he would have been my doggies dinner.

Welcome to the forum :)

I've seen some videos on you tube where they have attached flat cat scratching posts to the corex to make a ramp
You can get everything you need from here including loft bits

Thats a good idea, they'll have less chance of slipping anyway. I was looking on that sight and me and my dad came to the conclusion that its cheaper for me to build my own (I.E. I supervise while he makes :P ) because after building the cage I'm going to have about ten grids left over and we can get more correx for three pounds ninty seven :)

There are ways to stop them from chewing the correx though and if you look at piggiepigpig's correx, she has it high so they cannot chew it. I personally put fleece over the edges of the correx because one of our boars chews his, but people also use spine binders

It is far easier with the grids on the side for attaching bottles etc.

I use spine binders too, as Kerrie says they are effective :) As for a lid, as long as your cage it out of the dogs reach or in a room they can't get in to, then I wouldn't worry, unless you have a cat. I have two terriers but they don't have access to the pigs so I don't use lids :)

Yeah, the piggies will be kept in my room until we move in a few months when they'll have there own for a few reasons. 1) It's the only room with space big enough. 2) The dogs aren't allowed in the bedroom. 3) Because for the first few months i want to be able to monitor them quite closely as the rescue I'll be getting them from isn't very well known as far as I can tell (Tameside guinea pig and rabbit rescue)

Also from you're posts I'm asuming you both use fleece , so if so what do you use as your absorbent layer.
