I currently have my 4 girls (2 older ladies and 2 ladies at 9 months old) in a 3ft double hutch with large extension run. They get lots of time in this run but obviously the hutch isn't big enough on a perminant basis. What size double hutch would be recommended? I am looking at 4ft plus with added floor space on the levels like this:

http://www.petsathome.com/shop/en/p...utdoor-guinea-pig/tulip-cottage-hutch-and-run

Would this be a good size for the 4 of them (plus they have about 4 hours each evening at home in their 8ft run and unlimited time at the weekends when we are home :) Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The recommended size size hutch is 4 x 2 for 1-2 then i think it is about 20-30 cm more for each piggies after that. I am sure for 4 it works out to be 6ft but bigger is always better :)

Thankyou. I have spotted a huge 5ft long double height one i am going to look at tonight to see what kind of space it offers. :)

Hi @Flutterby mine is the pets at home bluebell hideaway hutch it works out the same length as the one in the link mine is such very slightly smaller in hight (but only by about 10cm) and mine is 55cm wide instead of the 60cm but mine is 60cm if I include the roof over hang so I wonder is that's the case with the one in the link. Mine worked out £79.20p with the 20% off offer. I have three in mine and I think its a great size at a fab price...can I just add if you get a pets at home hutch you should consider buying the weather cover too which is often on offer at the same time as the hutch I'm so glad I brought the cover. Also great tip is to get stick on Lino squares from the pound shop and line the hutch makes cleaning so much easier.
The pic of the cover looks a little odd as if the cover does not fit...I had not got the roof on at that point before it started to rain lol

Hi! I will definately look into the covers. The hutch we have at the moment has lino down in it, i find it so much easier. We are going looking at a large one tonight so i will see how that goes :) Thankyou for the info!

I would recommend for 4 guinea pigs as bigger hutch as possible (about 6 foot if possible). But a 5 foot double with a large run is also a good option. Some piggies wont use ramps so the ramp may need adapting. :)

They are in a double at the moment with a ramp and use it fine so hopefully they wont have a problem. This 5ft looks very large and spacious, so hopefully it will be what the piggies need. They do have a large run too which they have free access to whenever we are home. :)

Hi i have this hutch for 2 boars. If I'm honest i wouldnt put 4 pigs in it sorry to be a.pain

The one above in the link isn't the one i am going looking at tonight

Personally if I was going for a 5ft double story hutch, I would go for one similar to the one @My3cuteBoys has posted rather than one with an open run underneath. The only reason being they won't be able to use the bottom half of the hutch on cold wet days.

When I had four sows living in a hutch, I had a 6ft single story with a separate indoor and outdoor run but they were relatively small girls.
