So I have got 2 guinea pigs and there about a year old however there quite small. I have them indoor right now and want to keep it that way . I have a pet shop cage right now and want a bigger cage as they have grown out of that now what would you recommend?

C&C grids are very flexible. There are pros and cons to all types of cages though, really it is down to your personal preference and needs.
There's lots of useful ideas here

Yes that’s great I have thought about that but I’m just abit worried as I have a cat

You can build lids for C&C cages. I also have cats but I sadly don’t have the room for a C&C cage. I have a double tier 120 cage but thankfully my two piggies use the ramp so have access to both levels

Thank you . That’s really helpful I will have a look online for them .

I have a C&C cage which the piggies love.
I wish I’d switched sooner.
Let us know what you decide and then post pictures

I use wood shavings but a lot of people like fleece.
I tried fleece but found the laundry too much.
There’s several options so find one that works best for you

I use a hemp bedding designed for horses. It comes in 20 kg bales, so last a while and is really good at absorbing wee, particularly the high-volume areas (as horses pee more than pigs!) I’ve never considered fleece, I don’t like the idea of all the laundry !

At the moment I use wood shavings but I think that my guide pig has allergies to it as he has go dry flakey skin only used the wood shavings for about a month so I think I’m going to move to a different bedding .

How much does hemp cost if you don’t mind me asking and we’re you get it from?

I have started putting puppy pads down as a base, then newspaper, then hay on top.

I was just using newspaper and hay but that only lasted a day or so before it got smelly. The pads are definitely better as they draw the wee down and I'm changing the newspaper less often, but I'm still experimenting as we've only had the indoor cage since November.

Also if you have cats that you think might be interested in trying to get to the piggies I would opt for a more secure cage. Zooplus generally have some good prices on the ferplast plaza. You can get a 160 or a 140 which is more than enough space for two :)

Thank you I will look into that .

I buy it from an equine store and it costs just under £10 for 20kg and it lasts me about a month? I only take out what’s wet and dirty; I don’t empty the whole cage each week.
