What should I look at for buying in case of patchey having that accidental pregnancy?

Just incase Patchey is pregnant/expecting I want to plan as far ahead as i can... so witch kind of cage should I buy? A stacker hutch or a breeding hutch? I'm routing for a stacker hutch as they're cheaper if i need more depening on how large the litter is!

Since patchey has never given birth and is 1 year and about 4 months, are there any excercises etc. that I could use to reduce the chances of breaking her hips? Please don't make an angry mob at me because it was an honest mistake and I am trying my best to help and I will go to anne-sophie tomorrow and get a picture to have the forum sex him/her.

I think it would be best to hold off on buying anything untill you know for sure what the sittuation is :)
 
I know, I just wanna plan ahead so that I donthave to spend time thinking when everyone's stressing except for me

And how much should a normal sow weigh?
ANd how much does the weight increase everyday?

Personally i wouldnt look at getting a breeding hutch at all, i would think it would be better to keep any female babies with mom, and try to bond a male with daddy. but you cant decide all that untill babies are born really. I hope for everyones sake patches is either a boar or didnt get pregnant in their encounter.
 
To be honest, I think your friend should take Patchy to a vet and have them properly sexed before you start worrying about hutches to buy.

I know it has been mentioned in your previous thread, but do try and get either your parents or your friends parents to help you get a photo of Patcheys privates as I am sure experienced members on here will be able to tell for you what sex Patchey is.

I think you are getting ahead of yourself here which is causing you unnecessary stress!

I'm freakng out so much, i just dont want anything bad to happeen! last night i had dreams and i just cant stop imagining what will happen if patchey is really a sow and is expecting >.<
 
Don't worry! You're still unsure of Patchey's sex and you don't know yet whether she is pregnant or not. My advice is to take her to a vet. They can then properly sex him/her. Try to get someone to help you take a photo of Patchey's private parts and as Claire W said, there may be an experienced member that can help you sex him/her.
 
This may sound harsh and i could be wrong but i get the impression you want this pig to be pregnant and you intentionally bred them. I could be wrong but reading between the lines thats what I'm thinking and if I'm right then that was a very immature and irresponsible thing to do. I mean you dont even know if it is a sow yet but your already look at hutchs you seem excited by the prospect of this pregnancy rather than worried about the fact this poor sow could die through labour due to her age. You need to get both pigs to a vet and sexed and seek vetinary help if the sow is pregnant, she may need a caesarean if she cannot give birth naturally. Please stop asking regarding hutchs etc and do the right mature thing and get both pigs to a vet and explain the situation and concern over the sows age.

I don't think that was right of you to assume that. Me and purple blobs have been pm'ing
each other and to me it seems that it really was accidental and not intentional at all. Please remember, like me, purple blobs is only young so don't start accusing her of stuff.. Purple blobs and her friend thought that both pigs were boars when they introduced them but then there behavior made them think differently...
Edit: I don't want to start an argument please..

i havent assumed anything i actually stated that i could be wrong in the post you quoted? Purple blobs is young yes but my concern is the sow and the labour she will endure at the age that she is. Purple blobs and her friend should have sexed there pigs correctly before putting them together. The sows life is now at risk and the lives of the pups if there are any. At the age the sow is if it were a boar it would have visible testicles and this is quite an obvious sign of a male in any species. The fact purple blobs is more concerned over a hutch that she will not need for weeks yet over the concern of getting these pigs to a vet annoys me. That sows life is now in danger and it needs to see a vet asap. And please do not quote my messages 'telling me off' i am not a child, and i have the right to an open whether purple blobs likes it or not this is a forum and people have the right to say what they feel and just because purple blobs is young doesnt mean she is an exception to this. My concern is those animals and not purple blobs feelings I'm afraid.
 
Ok I understand that you have a different view on this situation than I do. In my opinion the reason purple blobs was asking about hutches was so that she would be prepared for the unfortunate case of the little piggie turning to be a sow and being pregnant.. But as I said this is just my opinion and it's obvious that you don't see it this way. i too am not looking for an argument and i completly understand where your coming from but why search for hutchs when she doesnt even know for definate if the boar is sow and if it is even pregnant? Its all a little eager to me. A littled excited about the idea. But yes as you said lets agree to disagree on this one and leave it at that. I will not post to this thread again.

She made a mistake, and is trying to do the right thing which is about the most mature thing that she could possibly do, given the circumstances. Please remember that Purple blobs is 11 years old.


Purple blobs - the best thing you can do is confirm the other piggies gender. Are you able to get a photo for us this weekend maybe?

I think she said to me that she is popping over to her friends house today so hopefully she'll be able to get a photo then. :))

S'more is a male.

Patchy is a female.

You will not know for several weeks yet if Patchy is indeed pregnant. Please read (and the parents of the owner of Patchy also) the pregnancy info in this link.

I am not experienced but Patchey looks female to me :(

Until you know for sure, please have your friend treat Patchey as though she is pregnant.

Have a look through the sticky's at the top of the pregnancy section.

Please try not to panic yet, hopefully Patchey wasn't in season and will not be expecting.
