My 2 girlies are outdoor piggies. They are in a sheltered part of the yard, have a hutch snuggle and hutch hugger around their hutch, snugglesafes, domes and plenty of hay.

When we travel back to Nottingham, we sometimes take the piggies with us if it is for more than a couple of nights (my neighbour takes care of them if not). The last few times we have gone back to Nottingham, they have been going in my parents shed but this was back in the warmer months.

When we take them back to Nottingham with us, they go back in a cage as the hutch is too big to transport. The cage isn't ideal but is fine for a permanent home but is fine for a few days as they have plenty of exercise anyway.

My problem is that we are taking them back with us for Christmas and I'm not sure what to do with them. They can either go in to the shed in the cage, have towels covering the cage up at night and part way during the day as well as their dome, snugglesafe and lots of hay OR go in to my parents spare room. The only issue I have with this is that my parents house is much warmer than they are used to and I'm concerned about them being inside when they're not use to it. They come indoors for playtime here but we don't have our heating on constant and the heating is off on the landing and the kitchen so they can still come indoors without there being a huge difference in temperature.

Then I am also concerned about them not being warm enough in the shed as they'll be in an open cage (with towels covering it).

Any advise on what I should do. House or shed?

Sorry, this is suppose to say that the cage isn't ideal for a permanent home but is fine for a few days as they get plenty of exercise anyway.

I think that unless we are in for an unusually bad cold spell over Christmas that they should be OK in the shed with towels over their cage.

They will be OK for a few days!

I agree Claire, i've looked after piggies for someone & they were in an indoor cage in my shed. I covered 3 sides with cardboard & then a blanket on top & they were fine oh & shoved lots & lots of hay in for them :)

Yes they should be fine in a shed, you can always add a couple of snuggly boxes filled with hay for them to bed down in all cosy and warm.
