I have a male boar who has had to be separated from his cage mates. I am going to get him a baby friend. How should I introduce him to the baby?

Hi and welcome

Can you please tell us where you are located (country, state/province or UK county)?

There is a better way of allowing single piggies to choose their own new friend but it is not available to everybody. Your location is crucial. This way is dating a single boar at a good standard rescue that offers this service. It means that you come home with a new healthy/fully quarantined and properly sexed companion only if acceptance has happened.

Please be aware that not every baby will be necessarily accepted; whenever you get a companion on spec you have to have a plan B ready in case things don't work. Key to every happy piggy bond is mutual liking and character compatibility whatever the age or gender. There is no magic wand trick that can change outlook or personality. Boars are also much more difficult to bond at some ages than at others.

How old is your boy? What is your set-up and situation? How much extra space and options have you got in case the baby is not working out? It would be good to consider all possible alternatives before you commit, but for that we need more background information.
