Ok, I was cleaning out the poops this morning, and left the dust pan in the cage for a few seconds while I dumped the poops in the garbage 3 feet away. I came back to find Churro taking a bite out of the rubber part of the dust pan.
Question: Will he pass this with no trouble, or is he going to need a vet visit? How worried about this should I be?

Mine do this all the time! I haven't had to take mine to the vet over it. Guinea pigs just love eating the rubber lip of the dust pan.

It’s a constant battle to avoid teeth marks in my dust pan. The moment I let go to move something else with that hand she is there, getting as much down her as she can. If it’s just a small amount it will be fine, just keep an eye on him.

Dexter loves nothing more than chewing my dustpan! Little trouble maker!

I am on my 3rd dust pan in a year! Mine can resist I can’t even leave on the cage floor for a second without some chewing the pan… little munchkins 🥰

This happened to me yesterday morning while cleaning Hector and Kiki’s cage out. Kiki attached the dustpan and has taken a big chunk out of the rubber edge while my back was turned. I’m sure they both will be fine

Rubber dustpan edge, rubber doormat base and even rubber brush bristles which are blue and look no way like food - it's literally half the size now. They get really hacked off when I spot them and take it away as well!

Thank you for easy my mind. He seems fine.

thank you

Hi, one of my piggies have taken the corner off the dustpan too...it seems like anything they're not meant to have they want to chew...but she never needed to go to the vets over it thankfully...her latest is to go for the bristles on the brush instead...I guess it just depends on your piggy...just keep an eye on them but hopefully they will be fine...
