Paranoid I might be feeding the piggies to much lettuce. This morning they have had two large leaves of raddichio (is that a lettuce or a cabbage or neither) cut into strips but usually they have 4 leaves of baby gem lettuce daily and then the next week a huge leaf of red or green hydroponic lettuce daily, I think you call them red oak or something. Since i'm the only one in the house who eats veggies I find it hard to rotate a variety of vegetables as they eat what I eat and I tend to get stuck eating my favourites for weeks before I change it up and coriander is really the only vegetable I buy specifically for them :vom:. How often would you feed your pigs lettuce?

All lettuce given is between the two guinea pigs not each and with other veg.

I used to get salad mix but found if I didn't store it properly it would spoil really quickly within a couple of days.

I give my piggies lettuce everyday - red leaf, romaine are their favourties. I usually give them one leaf each, but they also have veg like cucumber/bell peppers/spring greens as well. If I feed baby gem I give 2 leaves to each pig as they're not as big! Pigs can eat lettuce everyday so I shouldn't worry :)

Mine usually get one of romaine, romaine hearts or little gem. The piggies get a couple of leaves each, but the buns don't get lettuce as it causes diarrhoea.

For some reason Patchy always drops her first piece of lettuce on the ground, forgets about it and runs up to the bars for another piece which she will eat and all the other pieces after it while she is trampling the original piece under her foot. This happens EVERY time. I'm not sure whats wrong with that first piece because it's totally fine for Coco to eat when she eventually finds it but Patchy clearly thinks it's poisonous lol. Patchy is a very "special" guinea pig.

I think my two like the gem lettuce best. They like pretty much anything leafy and green.

I give them lettuce whenever I can. Usually any leftovers of veg from yhe office fridge make it home with me, and whatever is on offer at the supermarket.
They love baby gems the best, I think because it’s sweet and more taste rewarding.

She knows that she has claimed that piece and is asking for another. Good way of getting more

Mine get a romaine lettuce leaf most mornings. That's one each not one between 4.
For some reason Phoebe always wants the one some pig else is eating!
Merab's absolute favourite is red lettuce leaves which they get once or twice a week when I have time to shop

We've been getting asda baby leaf living salad lettuce lately, its a mix of red and green soft leaves growing in a teay of soil so it lasts ages. But usually we go for parsley or coriander or spinach and watercress salad as greens just because us humans prefer them to lettuce. This has its drawbacks though when the piggies see me having the audacity to waste coriander in a human meal rather than saving it all for them! Much wheeking outrage tonight while I made our human veggie chilli dinner with red peppers and coriander which rightfully belong to the piggies :)

Little gem, sweet gem, cos, the occasional bit of lambs lettuce, red leaf lettuce, green leaf lettuce, romaine....

Who am I kidding, Blitzen would eat pretty much anything you'd shove in front of his nose.

my piggies love green leaf and romaine. they get a leaf each for green leaf, and for romaine, they share a large leaf of it

I alternate between bags of salad mix, spinach watercress and rocket which they like, then bistro salad which is usually made up of lambs lettuce romaine and beetroot which they love! (Especially the beetroot). And of course little gem lettuce 2 leaves each. You probably are aware of this already but NO ICEBERG lettuce.

Yep aware of that one which is a shame because iceberg is my fav lettuce but it doesn't make sense to have 2 lots of lettuce in the house when me and the piggies are the only ones who eat it.

Mine like green leaf, red leaf, radicchio, frisée, little gem, romaine and lambs lettuce. Basically every variety they have tried. Oh and round lettuce. They get a small handful each about 5 times a week.

hi and green lear is what i mostly feed mine because its the best one for me
