i just looked down into the pen, and piglet was licking roger's head. roger wasnt fighting it, he just kinda squinted his eyes and let piglet lick him. then afterwards it was kinda funny because he looked like he had a rosette on the top of his head like george does. annnyway, what does this behavior mean? is it a dominance behavior? lately there has been more of a power struggle between piglet and roger, so i was really shocked that roger tolerated it. is this barbering?

If he's licking it's just him grooming him ........i have one girl who wants to do this all the time to the other one, but she freaks out :{

i also thought that, but it just seemed out of character. i mean if it was a sign of affection that makes me really happy because they've been stroppy towards each other lately, so it's reassuring. oh, and then a few minutes later, piglet licked his side. so i guess it's just grooming. whenever i think i have them figured out, they do something to surprise me!

I noticed something similar yesterday with my guinea pigs. One of them had its face into the side/front area of the others neck, seemingly sniffing or something. I'm not sure what he was doing.

The thing with stroppyness in boys is that it comes and goes with the hormones for a while. It doesn't necessarily mean they don't like each other or won't groom each other. Our boys this things like this too when they were squabbling. They would cuddle up together for a while and then start rumbling strutting etc. toward each other. In the end their relationship deteriorated beyond repair but that's down to their characters...

Until they're adults, it will be difficult to tell if they're going to get on totally and even then, good relationships can occasionally breakdown - just like us.
