Hello

Sorry if this has been asked before; I can't find it anywhere. I have bought a second hand hutch for the garden for a bit of fresh air for the boys occasionally over the summer (maybe it will take their minds off squabbling). I thought it would be more exciting for them to make extra levels for more exploring fun (they love exploring and usually forget to squabble when they are doing it).

My piggies are still little but I want it to still be suitable when they are fully grown. So, my question is:

What is the minimum height I should use for each level?

Thanks

Depending on how deep the hutch is I would say about 40 cm maybe? The piggies should be alble to stand on their hind legs and popcorn and I think 30 is enough for that (it's also the approx. height of a c&c grid).

Thanks for this. Good guess, the hutch is 41.5cm high inside. This means that I will not be able to split it into two levels. Scary to think that my little piggies will be 30 cm high one day when they stand up.:{

I will have to spend the day doing housework instead. Rats!:(

Hehe. They may only reach 20, "sitting" up, it depends. What you could do (if you wouldn't be too sad to forsake housework...) is to make a shelf on one side about 15 cm up, it makes a good "cave underneath and an excellent lounging pad on top :)

Good idea. I was just contemplating taking off the roof and adding an extra level on top say about 20 cm and taking 10 cm from the lower level ... I'm not sure if my DIY skills are up to it but it still sounds better than the house work. rolleyes

I only plan to put them into it for about an hour every day.
