Is it so that people have the benefit of two patterns in one?

Going to be making some more this weekend (I just use fleece top, towel bottom) and just wondered what the difference is and whether it's worth me making any double sided ones.

The only reason I can think of is it completely protects the absorbent layer. If you are using towel as your absorbent layer, I would double side it . I never use ""exposed" towelling for my guinea pigs - they could get one of their nails caught in one of the towelling loops.

Have you pre washed your fleeces? It's best to do so - so any shrinkage happens before you sew up.

I wash my fleeces at 60 degrees - so I always pre wash before making fleece items.

yes! I learnt the hard way...made one before and pre washed the fleece but not the mattress protector...shrunk on all sides :(

...but I still use it for floor time so all is not lost!

I make mine double layer as I use towel inside. I'm worried the piggies will find the towel delicious! Having it double sided lets me keep the same liner in for longer though. I can just flip it over every second day, and you can't see any dirty marks or fur or hay or mess that's stuck to it. The boys love it too, they always go exploring when I flip it. It's like a brand new fleece!
