Here is a video, he’s been doing this every few seconds for almost an hour. I took him to the vet yesterday because his skin was a bit flakey and he wasn’t doing any of this before the visit.

What did the vet say and was he given any meds or spot on treatments?
Experienced members will be along, I am sure. This is to give them more info, however I would just go ahead and contact the vet again.

They just said we’re gonna test for ringworms. I wasn’t allowed inside so I don’t know everything that happened. However, I think that vet might be stupid because they misgendered my piggies, so maybe I’ll get a second opinion.

Please have him seen by the vet. How long does he do that for? Is he pooing? Does he squeak when toileting? And has he been pawing at his mouth at all? Have a look at the vet locator below and see if there is a more experienced one near you.

you can just send videos to a vet? I thought you had to go in and stuff

I am unclear what the arrangements are where you are in the world. What I meant was to have him seen by the vet and to show the vet the video as evidence of what you are reporting. Either on your phone(if you are able to go into the consultation) or by email/ link or however works for you so that the vet can see it.

I did see him poop once at the very least, as in one poop came out. There could be more I’m not entirely sure. He just started doing this today and I don’t think he’s been pawing at his mouth. Unfortunately the nearest vet on that list is more than two hours away

You will have to ring around and see who is willing to see them. And whether they have any experience in treating guinea pigs.

Ahh ok; last time my vet didn’t let me in with them because of corona but I’ll try and show them the video

They likely still won't let you in. I would call them for an appointment then tell them you'll send the video by email.

Hope you can get him to a vet to be checked ASAP. Could he be very itchy? You already said he had flaky skin?

Really hope you get an appointment and he starts to feel better soon

Closest appointment was tmrw at three, is there anything I can do to minimize the pain until then?
Also thanks for all the quick advice everybody.

Hi!

Please have your piggy seen promptly; it looks like your piggy is trying to bring something up but can't. Rodents don't have a vomit reflex.

Sorry, painkillers are prescription only in the UK. They could also meddle with any sedation that your piggy may need in case something it stuck in the mouth or throat area and in case your piggy may need a scan or x-ray.

Update: he stopped doing it so much, but even today 30+ hours later he was still doing it very occasionally. The vet said it was the hiccups, so ig guinea pigs get 2+ day long hiccups

I haven’t seen this before but don’t think it’s hiccups.

at this point, since it has almost come to a stop, and the fact that two vet visits at different vets havent come to anything other than hiccups, It would be a pretty difficult task for me to convince my dad to spend even more money on vet visits. However, if it goes back to as bad as it was when the video was taken, I'll just take the vet costs myself, and drive a few hours to a guinea pig specialty vet
