What is bumblefoot and how does a guinea pig get it?

Hi, back again. Not that any of my guinea pigs are sick at the moment, but i’m curious as to what bumblefoot is. I’ve heard about it, is it a crust that grows or like some sort of hardness/calluses? And how do they get it?
