Hi

I have 2 young piggie sows approx 10 weeks old. They are difficult to catch lol but when I do catch them they snuggle down and seem to enjoy their gentle cuddles.

One of them even goes to sleep, they both make kind of bubbling/popping sounds and they seem to vibrate their heads. The one that falls asleep sometimes licks my hand. Can I take that this means they are happy and content and trust me not to harm them?

Thank you.

A lot of piggies don't like being picked up but love snuggle time. My boys see me trying to catch them as a game, they think its hilarious :)) If they are settled with you then they are fine, and seeing as they're young it's a really good thing that they like the interaction and in time they may get used to being picked up

Yes, it does!

Most piggies don't like being picked up; it cuts too close to their prey animal instincts. You can work around it by training your boys to come into some kind of pick up conveyance, a tunnel, upturned pigloo or house, a cosy, a cardboard box with an entrance or even a folded towel. Placing a little treat inside and giving lots of praise helps with the training!
