Hello, awesome Guinea Pig Parents,

Hope you and your little ones are doing great ❤
Cherry & Berry these days like to touch my hands with their teeth.
What does this mean?

Best Wishes,
Guinea Pig Mum

My pigs do this, first of all it means they trust you! Second of all, in my case, it means they’re sniffing for food :D

One of mine always does this, she gives a little nip which doesnt hurt but she's just exploring, maybe she thinks my finger is a carrot or maybe its the salt on your hands which is quite tasty...some lick, some nibble but as long as it doesnt hurt you I would take it as a sign of trust x

When one of my boys was younger he would ‘groom’ my skin like he thought it was fur. It was like a series of really tiny, quick little nips up and down my finger. Wasn’t the most comfortable experience, but he was trying to be helpful!

Leela does this all the time... she will both lick our hands and nibble them. I think she's just exploring or being affectionate or thinking that we taste like salt. LOL!

Oh, piggy kisses. Very precious but very odd sensation.

Of my current piggies only Evie does this to me, usually in the morning when I’m sorting out her cage and give her a head and chin rub. It always follows the same pattern of me doing the tidy, me rubbing her ears and then her chin, then she “grooms” or kisses me with her teeth along the side of my hand or fingers. It’s very gentle, like they go do each other when grooming. She started it a couple of weeks after moving in with us, almost like once she felt safe and unthreatened she wanted to show some affection to me. I love it, but I’ll admit the first time I feel a new piggy’s teeth touching my skin it takes some control not to pull my hand away and offend them!
