typical day? What do they eat and at what times of the day? Quantities would be good too, e.g how many lettuce leaves per piggie?

This would be helpful as I'm still a bit confused about what they can have and how much.

This thread might help you with a good and balanced diet:

Here is a list of foods they can eat:

The average rule is that you give your piggies about 1 cupful/50g of mixed veg and 1/2 - 1 handful per adult piggy per day. Most people split the amount over two meals.

Hay they should have as much as they can eat - it should be the mainstay of their food. Grass classes as hay.

Personally, I give a varying mix of 5-6 veg split into 2 meals and one "tidbit", and give pellets twice a day.

i feed my guinea a bowl of veg in the morning (carrot ends, potato peels, leftover veg.etc) then 50g of food a day at lunch (wagg guinea pig munch,his favourite!)
if you dont know what guineas are allowed then go to your vet and they will probably have a leaflet of the veg and foods they can eat. it helped me a lot '')
please reply and help to see if there is anything that will have lots of vitamins in to keep him healthy. thanks :)

I'm pretty sure that piggies shouldn't eat potato, but sure someone else will be able to confirm or deny this. (I think it may be posionous to them..?)

Erm........... Are piggies maent to eat potatoe peelings and leftovers? My pigs are fussy and hate carrot ends when you leave them on the carrot and they leave a big lump of the carrot

I think you are right, they're part the solanaceae plant family and they are normally poisonous

My girls are a little fussy as well. I used to give mine loads of carrot but now they only have it as treats as I worked out they got fat. I give them tow handfulls of fresh pellets between the three of them daily. Also I top up their hay and give them fresh water. They also can have lots of grass but be careful about giving them wild plants as some can be bad for them.

I have a list of things that guinea pigs aren't supposed to eat and potatos peels and potato itself is on top of that list :{

mine get fed twice a day approximately 7am and 7pm i feed them a bowl of veg and a bowl of dried food. the veg is usually cucumber, carrots, lettuce leaves or cabbage leaves

I give my guinea-pigs a bowl of vegetables each each morning at 8am, though sometimes at the weekends it's about 8.30 or 9. Then I normally put some of the guinea-pigs in the run depending on the weather so they have grass during the day, then in the evening about 4.30 because it gets dark so early, I fill up their bowls, I don't properly measure it, I've just worked out that Billy eats 1/4 of a big cup, the girls eat a whole cup (because there's more of them) so that's how I measure it. They also get their hay in the evening and sometimes a few dandelions or grass.
