I am trying to design (and possibly make or get help to make or buy) a larger indoor cage for my two sows, Jingle and Mistletoe.

I am having trouble getting a table with straight legs and a wooden top for less than eighty pounds!

I want the cage to be nine or ten feet long by two foot wide so need a couple of tables/benches. I am hoping to have wood and plexiglass.

Please could you post pics of what your cage sits on and a link to where you got it from? Ikea would be great but they charge 35 pounds delivery ...

I have used metal stands for cages but I have a two storey cage now...it stands on an old desk of my partner's. Have you thought about looking in charity shops or online in case people are wanting to get rid of their old tables?

Yes I have but I need two of the same height and I dont drive!

Hoping to buy some board and put legs onto it but not sure how to make it sturdy enough.

A large DIY store should sell legs and large pieces of wood. Some places will even cut the wood to size if you ask.
If you have a specific size in mind, this might prove to be the easiest solution.
And if you don't drive maybe a local 'man with a van' type service could collect it for you?
The other thing you could try is Ikea. I know they sell various desk tops and legs separately, so you can choose your own combination.
It sounds like an amazing project.

Not sure if this will help, but my pygmy hedgehog has a cage very similar to one you want to make (Lucky Mistletoe and Jingle :luv:).

My Dad built it for me, ill post some pictures so you can get an idea of what we did. This one is 180x60 I think.

We made it out of conti board from B&Q (I'm pretty sure they can cut it there and then for you) and for the cage its two pieces on the bottom then the sides and we used a glue gun and screwed it all together. What the cage is sitting on is three panels (have to have something in the middle so it supports the cage) and it has a back and the cage just sits on this. I keep all my cosy items underneath. (ignore her mucky wheel, haven't cleaned it today yet)

The only other idea I can think of are these tables from Ikea ADILS/LINNMON Table White 150x75 cm - IKEA. I think the lady from Piggiepigpigs, uses these for her DIY cages on youtube. But like you said its the postage which is quite annoying.

Seconded - when our pigs were on a table that's what we used! They're back on the floor now though due to a room move around- our living room is tiny!

Laila that is exactly the kind of thing I want for my sweeties. It looks sooo pretty with all the pink and white fleece items.

Swissgreys I am going to have to get a lift to a DIY store and get timber and board. Sooo exciting!

I love the look of the ikea tables ... oh well. Maybe I can get a lift to our local one ...
