I'm wanting to change my cage to a c&c cage to give Barnum to give him more space particularly if I'm thinking of taking him boar dating. I don't want him on the ground and I've got to produce a cage that is pet proof. I also want storage underneath as since being on this forum Barnums getting quite a collection of stuff (variety of hay, snuggle sacks, shampoo). All links welcome!

we bought conti board from B&Q which they cut to size for us in store,

then we just put some legs on it also bought from B&Q

we used 6 for extra support

we then bought some storeage plastic boxes which I know asda sell 3 for £10.00 and this is the finished product

we have in total 6 storage boxes underneath, but if you turn them on their side you can get 8 underneath :)

We bought a table top and 4 legs from IKEA for £30

Can't remember the name though :)

We bought a fantastic table from Ikea for £34.99, its 200cm long so its perfect for my 5x2 cage. It was very important it was waist level for me because I have a fused spine and it's perfect-I find I interact with them more than ever :)

It also has loads of room underneath if you want to put storage baskets etc.

I built a base out of more grids. Between that and the cat-proofing grids on top it took about three packs, so not any cheaper than the above-mentioned solutions, but not much else would have fit under my stairs where the cage is living! Also, I was able to use some of the shelf connectors to build narrower shelves into it for newspapers, towels, etc. :)

some people just buy more grids but sometimes that can be unsteardy so if i were you i would go to homebargains and just buy a cheap good quality table or go to ikea or aldi or b&m bargains

I use grids for mine and it's perfectly safe, as long as you build it right with grids along the back to make the underneath have 4 compartments with 3 sides if that makes sense ?

Lots of storage space and i used grids to make shelfs ! (:

That's brilliant thank you. How big a c&c cage ones that it? Sorry for all questions!

No problem :)

We have a 4x2 on our table - I stapled it to the table with a hammer though to keep it secure :) (though I don't two guinea pigs and the weight of the toys would move it off, never mind, safety first!)

The one I had was called Vika Amon/Vika Adils, it's brilliant because it's 200cm in length so takes a 5x2 perfectly.

Sorry I'm new to my iPad so can't copy and paste a link yet.

Yes that's the one I have linked above - only mine was 150cm, not 200 :)

The one I had was actually £37.99 not £34.99 like I first thought.

I was so happy when I found this one because I was worried I wouldn't get anything long enough-they are really sturdy too :)

How many grids did you use in total? Apart from the ramps though

Thanks for the advice guys. My plan Next pay day begin getting stuff for a c&c cage, then once were set up time to go boar dating and then introduce them to the new cage at the same time!
