As title - I am extending my 5x2 with a 5x1 upper level to a 6x2 with a 6x1 upper level. I currently have a piece of wood that spans the whole length of the cage to support the upper level, but it's a bit wobbly still. I want to keep the lower level free of grids and supports if I can.

Can anyone recommend anything as an upper level support? I know they do proper metal bars in the US but have never seen anywhere to buy them in the UK.

I got my support bars from here (in the UK);

But I believe they only sell one size for spanning 2 grids, so this won't really help you very much.
Plus those bars are seriously heavy, so I think one that would span 6 grids would be too dangerous to have balanced on C&C grids.
I think the wood idea is great, but it if wobbles then maybe you need a wider piece (more like a plank) to give some stability. You could also drill a small hole in each end and cable tie or wire it to the grids at either end.

A 6 x 1 loft sounds impressive - I would love to see a photo!

I've taken a photo for you but having serious issues with photobucket. Keeps telling me it's infected my tablet with a virus! Will try to find another photo sharing website.

You can just put a photo in one of your posts direct from your computer (or lap top).
No need to upload it anywhere first - I save mine to my desktop so I know which one to attach.
Type your post and then click on 'upload a file' (grey button on the right hand side under the message box).
Hope that helps.

Yay! It works ....... thanks. That's SO much easier than the rabbit forum where you have to use photobucket! So as you can see, I've got wood batons wedged on both levels to make it sturdy.

ETA - the water's not green in the lower level bottle. It's got a vitamin mix in it. Just in case anyone notices!
