I’m sorry if this is the wrong place to ask, but I didn’t know if I should go to the food section or not.

All of my guinea pigs have passed and I have no idea on what to do with their food…I don’t plan on getting any more guinea pigs, and I just felt that it would be a waste to throw all their food away.

Most of the bags are barely eaten, and one has not been opened yet. I also have some toys that they were not able to use.

Any idea on what to do with the food and toys? Or should I just throw it all away? Does any place take barely used bags of guinea pig food/hay or are they useless and belong in the trash?

I don’t have any friends near me with small animals, so giving it to a friend is not an option.

I’m sorry all of your piggies have now crossed over the rainbow bridge. I would firstly look into donating it a local rescue. They will always appreciate any donations. If there’s not one near you, you could try the local vets to see if they could pass it on to another piggy owner or lastly put an ad on a local free site. It’s lovely of you to think of others.

So sorry your piggies have gone over the bridg, donating the food to a rescue would be lovely or if you have a food bank for local people perhaps they would take it. Someone was asking for hay/dog food/cat food at a local food bank

How kind of you to think of helping others while you are grieving.
As well as the good suggestions made you could ask your vet if they know anyone who could use it.
