Hi

It looks like it will be a couple of weeks before I can bring my new lad Colby home which gives me plenty of time to prepare.

I know I have asked general questions about introducing a neutered boar to existing group of girls in the past but now its really going to happen I wanted some more advice.

My three girls are 7 months old and housed in a 4x3 c&c.

When I bring Colby home do I put him straight into the c&c with the girls and sit and watch them for an hour to see how its going or should I plan on a slower introduction?

Ideally I'd probably like to house him next to the girls for a few days so they can get to know each other before the full intros but I've looked at the c&c and cannot see how I can partition part of it off to house Colby in without blocking access to the ramp to the hayloft.

I am planning to add another 3x1 grids to make a kitchen area for them so could move swiftly on this but is he going to be OK in that small a space for a couple of days?

Sorry for all the questions, just sooo excited and want to get it right first time:-) I've never had a lad before so not sure how much different the intros will be.

Ooooo.... I'm excited for you.

First things first, if your anything like me, you won't have them living next door you'll be too desperate to get them together.

Neutral ground and pop them all down with loads of veggies. Fred and the girls intro I did in the bathroom on the floor with loads of veggies, I literally watched them about 10 minutes it was very obvious they would be friends. (Towel handy just incase I doubt you will need it though).

With Patrick and Pebbles we did the introduction at Romily (thank you :)), on her kitchen floor and then I took them home in the carrier box it was very obvious they were going to be friends. They were grooming each other during intro. Mars who we also introduced her too just wasn't interested but they could have lived together the bond wouldn't be as great as it is with Patrick though no were close).

The male will try and hump, Females will spay and maybe nip depending how fed up they are. It's fine :).
