Junior Guinea Pig
Hi all,
I keep my piggies outside in a hutch. To line the hutch I usually use a layer or two of newspaper, a layer of wood shavings and then some hay on top which gets topped up daily. I have always used wood shavings with my piggies even the one I had when I was young. They are cheap and easy to clean up. Plus it's handy to do a mini clean and scoop out the dirty bits and replace with fresh shavings.
However I have just done some reading which suggests that wood shavings aren't very good to use with piggies as it's quite dusty. I was wondering if anyone could advise:
1. Their experiences with wood shavings
2. Alternative bedding you would suggest we use
We have 4 girls who are all quite young and we are planning on expanding the area of the hutch as they are all getting big now so it will be quite big so I don't think that carefresh stuff will be enough and I know a lot of people use fleeced but surely they get dirty way too quickly?
Thanks
