What bedding is best for the winter?

I have two boars who sadly due to a alllergy have to stay outside during the winter. I was just wondering what bedding is best to keep them on. They have got a hutch cover but are still a little chilly and when the frosty nights come it would be my worst nightmare that their bedding freezes. They are currently on wood shavings.

Loads and loads of hay and a cosy hot water bottle that you put in the microwave and it stays warm for hours

we bought heat lamps (like the ones for chickens) we put them on timers so they go off when we think it will get cold at night.....hopefully we will get a timered one which will make the lamps go off when it gets under a certain temperature

You can try and make a cover to attach to the sides of the hutch to sort of insulate it, hay, chopped paper, blankets.

I have put loft instillation round mine and then board over the top they are on newspaper, sawdust and huggings of hay with cosy cups igloos and cosy beds they all seem warm enough I also have clear plastic over the mesh with plenty of vent space.two blankets over the front and plastic over that,they have a home made 7 foot hutch with two bedrooms..x

We have two boys in the shed during winter and they've always been okay with a combination or straw and hay. They also have a snuggle sack and plenty of blankets on their hutch.
