What Are The Best Pellets/food To Feed Guinea Pigs?

I plan on getting Guinea pigs sometime next year and I want to reaserch them a lot before I get them but I want to know What are the best pellets/food to feed Guinea Pigs? Like do I feed them Oxbo or Carefresh or what?

Oxbow are quite a good brand

not sure what brands are available where you are, but the grain free variety are supposed to be the best ones you can feed - vitakraft or bunny, both available from zooplus. mollie and benjie have a very small amount of vitakraft and love them

I use harringtons optimum,. but l beleve the most imprtant dried feed is Hay'
here is the best as far as l am cocerned

Oxbow is popular I think. Is it just the young guinea pig food you can find? That would be good if you plan on getting younger piggies but you would need to make sure you had access to a food for when they are older.

I use burgess excel which are great. However I'm not sure if you can acess them where you live.

I use the pellets which are available from Tesco they call them nuggets though. I also really like Burgess Excel and my pigs enjoy it too.

the oxbow are probably the better ones out of those. aslong as it's a pellet and not museli style, then any should be ok because it's such a small part of their diet anyway

I know @helen105281 (I believe it was Helen anyway) has done a fair amount of research into the different pellets available. I don't know if there is a thread with some of the brands listed on for you to have a look over. I will see if I can find one.

Second vote for Tesco Guineapig Nuggets. Half the price of the Pets@Home ones and a third or more from the brand names with the same ingredients and minerals etc

I just found a thread where Helen has said she is presently working on a sticky thread about pellets but recommends a grainless pellet. This is the one @helen105281 is feeding JR Farm Grainless Complete Guinea Pig | Free P&P £29+ at zooplus!

Yes I am doing one, need to crack on with it, only have time on my lunch breaks really and keep getting distracted. I will cover all of them including the grainless. I am feeding the JR Farms at the mo but my 2 newbies are still transitioning from Burgess. Don't want to make them go cold turkey as Robyn is a baby and needs unlimited pellets.
