..... had another stroke this morning. This is now his 5th in 2 years :(. I didn't actually witness it this time (though I have the others), I just received a frantic phone call from my mum about 8.45 this morning. I had just got into work and had to turn around and quickly get back home again and was at the emergency vet by 9.10am and £70 worse off by 9.20 ::). Such a panic and too much drama for a Monday morning!

Luckily, he has come around quickly, as he has in the past. He has spent the day nice and quiet and just chilling out and I have been ringing my mum every hour for progress reports. The vet has no idea what is causing it and why he seems so susceptible. This is his first stroke since he started his medication just under a year ago so we have made some progress. He is the runt of the litter and has always been a sickly thing and I was told when he was only 5 months old not to expect a long life - he turned 6 at the beginning of March :).

My poor little man. He just looks so confused as to why things seem to keep happening to him and I would love to be able to just take it all the illnesses away from him but I can't.

Here is my gorgeous little Krysla....

Fingers crossed he is feeling a bit better tomorrow.

Aww I hope he recovers quickly Sabrina, he is gorgeous :smitten: I do know Cavaliers are susceptible to health problems aren't they, my parents have always had one and not one has lived to be more than eight years old :( They are wonderful doggies though :smitten:

Sending vibes to him for a speedy recovery :)

Thanks Kathryn. They do seem to be full of health problems. I had a cavalier before Krysla and he only lived to be 7 and then had heart failure :(. I have vowed that I am never having a pedigree dog again.... If I ever decide to have a dog again in the future then I will be going to a shelter and rescue something 'stupid' looking with a big mix of the gene pool.

My parents current Cavalier, Dora, is coming up to seven with no health problems so far. They've been very very strict with her diet wise, she's never had any human titbits or anything and so far it's worked, all their other dogs have had heart problems by seven. I've looked at rescue dogs but tbh I'm very biased in favour of Cavaliers as they're such lovely gentle dogs and having tried a mongrel pup a few weeks back which didn't work out if we go for a dog again it'll be a Cavalier. Dora was an ex breeding dog so my parents got her when she was 18 months old, so a sort of rescue although of course they had to pay the breeder - but she's had such a good life with my parents and adores my dad :smitten:

Aww bless him. I hope he recovers well and soon. He looks a dear little thing

Thanks for all the well wishes everyone. Krysla has been a pain in the butt today - obviously feeling better now and up to his usual mischief!

I know what you mean Kathryn - Cavaliers are gorgeous dogs. Just breaks my heart to see him having to go through so much! In all honesty, I probably won't have a dog again once he is no longer with me, at least not for a very long time....
