And hopefully (subject to home visit once we've brought the hutch and run) we will have 2 piggies coming to live with us. They are 2 sisters, just over a year old. OnIy have however committed my first sin and forgot to take a photo of them as I was so busy holding them and supervising the children with them!

I said I'd drop a couple of hidey's / tunnels off at the rescue once we are approved so that we will have something that has the right smell on for them. What would you all suggest?

Aw, that’s fantastic news. Really looking forward to seeing pigtures of your new little piggies x

Hi! Great news!

Are the girls listed on an adoption page or on facebook to share a picture?

Also take a fleece cosy/blanket for them that they can snuggle under; it retains the scent well and can then be used to rub all over the hutch to make it smell like their territory and make it more welcoming and 'safe' for them.

Great news.
This is so exciting.
Looking forward to pictures when you get them home.
Have you chosen names yet?

I love an agouti! I have 2 of them and soon so will you!

Velvet & Christian having a chat.webp

Velvet is the brown lemon agouti and Christian is the silver agouti.

I had an lovely Agouti when I was a child too which may have drawn me towards the bottom girl.

I also have a hutch question having been thinking this week. We have brought a Chartwell Hutch so the girls can live outside for the summer. What do people use in the "living" areas? I used to use newspaper as a child and was thinking fleece but wasn't sure how well that stood up to being in an outside Hutch.

Brilliant! I love agouti piggies. My first two piggies Twiglet and Dougal were agouti.
The top picture looks so like my Georgie pig it could be his clone. :luv:

Here is our bedding overview guide. I think that hemp based fitch is quite a favourite for hutches.

PS: Please plan where to put your hutch and what to do during a heat wave. We had lots of piggies dying or falling seriously ill from heat stroke last summer, including those left in the shade of a tree but fully exposed to a very hot sun-warmed breeze.
With climate change in full swing now, summers are going to get worse, not better.
