I want to introduce myself. I have no name yet, but now I'm here. And the whole neighbourhood can hear me. I'm a loud little one!

I lost my brother last week and my old and very loving family decided to rehome me. I moved in to this new slaves and a very big Kongo this Wednesday, because Kongo also lost his best neighbour Joe Exotic last week. My new slave is pretty worried Kongo will just back me over and make pancake of me, because I'm so tiny. But I'm actually two years old and veryvery energetic!

Slave has a feeling you will hear alot about me and my adventures. She says she just knows I'm trouble, even though I'm a bit shy. I have different colours on my pants. One leg is white and one is brown. I look very fun and adorable!

I like Joes old woodenbridge and slave says I can borrow it;

But most of all I love to sit on the roof;

Slave doesn't have a good picture of the size-difference yet, we live in separate cages for now, but well;

Thank you for the warm welcome, piggyslaves! And for the name suggestions. You are more sane than my slaves, because my new name is...

Kentucky Carl!

I'm a bit worried what kind of people they really are. But I look like a little Carl and act like a little gangster. They say its from one of their favorite tv-shows Shameless US (Carl Gallagher and Kentucky Bart in a mix). I cant wait to meet Kongo for real, but slave says I have to wait for a couple of days. Maybe she will connect our cages first and let us have some face-to-face interaction before a trip to the bonding-pen?

Welcome to the forum Kentucky Carl. That’s a very nice name.
You are a handsome boy and have landed on your cute little paws in your new home.

I would give them some next door interaction through the bars first so your newbie can get his bearings and they can get the territorial stuff out of the way and get to know each other.

Yeah, I thought so too. Yesterday Kongo walked up to Carls cage and they had a nose-to-nose that way. Kongo was very relaxed and friendly and washed himself. Carl on the other hand was very excited and even though I think the size-difference will sort things out pretty fast, Carl might need some time to calm down first. I dont really trust Kongo either - it can work out very fine for the first days like with Chip and Joe, and then he starts to bully. He's a tricky one 😂

All the best. But if Kongo piggy washes himself in view of Carl, then he wants to be friends with him - which is the best reaction for a good start.

Please be aware that the bonding process including intro and ensuing hierarchical group and territory establishment in their shared environment lasts around two weeks; with the run up, it can last even longer. Dominance (and not bullying) is at the very heart of the group establishment. You have to sit that one out and see it as an integral part of becoming mates and not as bullying.
Any bonding ultimately comes down to the piggies making a personality match and wanting to be together. Any piggies below 4 months are desperate to belong and should be bonded straight away. With Carl, the excitement can be territorial, fear-based or excitement; it has to be seen. The initial over-excitement is a very normal reaction. Allow Carl to get over the worst of it.

How old is Carl?

Carl is 2, so its not a stress to bond them to live together. I will connect their cages this week, so they can start interact and get to know each other as neighbours.

What went wrong the previous times when we tried to bond Kongo was no mutual liking with him and Chip. With Joe I think it was Joes tooth. Just two days after we had to put the divider up Joe started to show us he was in pain/didnt want to eat. I guess he was in pain/felt poorly during the bonding and Kongo was just too much for him to handle at the time. Kongo took the chance. When Joe was better again they really enjoyed each others company as neighbours.
I hope we learned something from this failed attempts. But I also really hope its very easy to bond them, like Joe (natural alfa) and Chip (natural over excited little brother). But they also lived as neighbours for over four years before bonding (not with direct contact the whole time, thought).

I will read the guides again when its getting close! I appreciate your guides alot, and got help from so many.
