Weird flakey skin?

I was bathing my guinea pig turbo and noticed some weird white skin coming off her and some like dark skin flakes also. I've noticed the dark skin coming off whenever we put coconut oil on her but it doesn't happen to my other piggy. Any ideas? I couldn't get a good picture since she is quiet jumpy.

I don’t keep skinny pigs so not sure about their skin care. Off the top of my head @eileen and @YvonneBlue do, as does @Lorcan so they may be able to provide some advice for you.

Is there's a chance it's from the coconut oil? Because I've never used any on my pair, they've never needed it if I'm honest. If it's building up, it might be causing some of those flakes.

I find my dark skinny pigs can get a build up of skin.one has very dry skin.i use E 45 lotion .or candula lotion from gorgeous guineas.
I'm not keen on coconut oil.if you prefere to use,put a small amount on and take off with cotton cosmetic pads,that will remove skin build up.if you see anything unusual I would take your piggie to the vet.as they are prone to fungal and ringworm.

My skinny pig Dora has something that looks similar and oddly it turned out she has an over active grease gland. Dust then sticks to the grease and she scratches at it. I usually just leave it alone but do occasionally bath her with Gorgeous Guineas gentle shampoo. None of my other skinnies have it.

If it continues it may be worth getting it checked out by your vet. As Eileen says they can be prone to fungal infections.
