My sister's piggy Toffee has a strange sort of brown disc at the top of his eye. Not crusty or watery or anything. It looked to me like a 3rd eyelid (my dog once got this stuck) but googling it seems guineas don't have this? Best picture we could get below. Any

It could be a hay poke. I’ve not had a piggy with this but members on here get them treated as an emergency as eyes can deteriorate very quickly. Any vet will do. It doesn’t have to be an exotics vet as eyes are the same for most animals. Good luck.

Thanks. I wondered that but none of my piggies have ever had it either. She's getting an appointment in the morning. Is there anything that will help in the meantime?

I’ve not had to deal with this sorry. So can’t really advise.

You could search the forum for other people’s experience. Good luck. 🤞🏻

Hi

Since we cannot tell you what exactly you are dealing with just from the pictures without a hands-on examination and a closer look for ourselves, I would rather leave be.

PS: Guinea pigs don't have a third eyelid or a nictating membrane. It could be something stuck on the eye/partially under the eyelid, a prolapsing tear gland (less likely) or the start of an infection. Hopefully it is something that is easily dealt with.
