i am looking for thread that was about weights for certain ages for piggies as my vet keeps saying zoe 3 months short of being 4 at 900grams is over weight :tickedoff:
:tickedoff: :tickedoff: once i strangle her i would like to show her the link to ideal weights for piggies. hoping someone can help O0 thanks again :smitten: :smitten:

Hi Mary,

not sure on the thread but look at this http://www.guinealynx.info/weigh.html It would explain why your vet is thinking Zoe is overweight. But as it explains this isn't the 'norm' for pet pigs. Certainly not mine with Fleur at 1350g! ;D x

Weight on all websites greatly fluctuate.....700 g to 1500 g per adult piggy is the common range. Seems your vet looks at the bottom end of the scale there.
Have a look at some websites and print them out for your vet, maybe that will help with that weight issue a bit.

Lenny was that heavy at that age but hasn't put on much since. If you piggie is healthy and isn't fat try not to worry to much. All piggies are different and you'll sson know if you need to worry about the weight. xx

Molly was huge, about 1300g age 2 lol, but very healthy, she has "slimmed down" to about 930g now at 3 years old. At least if they carry a bit of extra weight, they can afford to lose a bit if they become poorly.

And they are very cuddly!

Hi Mary! Ricky is just about 1000 grams and he is 8 months old. The doc said he is at a perfect weight. Although I did read that the male piggies tend to be heavier. I don't think Zoe is overweight at all! Love to you, Ian and all your beautiful little ones........ :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:
