We have some generic digital kitchen scales from Amazon, and use a big tupperware type box as a piggy-holder. A tare function is useful, as we can then zero it with the container and just weigh the pig.

How much a guinea pig "should" weigh is a very hard question to ask, as it depends on age, sex, condition, and a host of other factors. The guide on weighing is useful reading, but the key message for me is to know your own pigs and monitor their weight regularly so you can spot deviations from YOUR pig's normal - whether that be a petite 780g or a hefty 1.3kg.

Agree with the comments on weight mentioned above. I think most adult piggies fall between 800-1200g though I have 2 heavier but healthy and have had an adult smaller and healthy also.

When my scales broke earlier this year I ordered from Amazon as we have prime and they would arrive the next day. I got salter digital ones but they were only £9 and do the job

We use ones very similar yes, we weigh in a box and then subtract the weight of the box from the wieght to find thr weight of the piggy and write it down in a book.

Welcome to the forum by the way!

I just use the generic kitchen scales, nothing fancy. I weigh mine once a week, but it depends on the piggy

Think Lidl have some on offer this week, well there were some in their Dorchester store yesterday for approx £6 I think, but can't see them on my local stores page.
They were red & looked like these in design
.... Minus my 1215g furry potato Squiggle
I think all of my girls have ranged between 900g - 1400g they often decrease in weight slowly as they lose muscle mass as they get older.
Ellie was about 900g when she was 8yrs old, down from approx 1200g when I got her aged 5yrs.

But yours will be fine, no need to buy anything fancy, as long as they work accurately & they're safe to put Guineas in or on.
