Hi,

Does anyone have problem with leaky wee at the corners of their c and c. I've had to renew the correx, just wondering if anyone else has had this problem.

Personally i haven’t but i have my correx in a box shape and then an insert of another piece of correx flat in the bottom to strengthen the base.

What sort of bedding do you use, and what do you use to clean the base ? :)

Hi Twiams,

I think the problem has been my husband couldn't source locally thin correx so got thick correx it would fold up where the slats inside where across but at the ends it wouldn't fold up, as it is so thick and so he had to tape the corners and there must of even a small hole left. The thin correx seems hard to find, here my husband is an sign maker but doesn't use correx and it's amazing how the screen printers carry no large sheets.

The bedding has been a nightmare really trying to find what is right. I have always had guineas on shavings and didnt know they could cause dry skin etc. so tried fleece didn't like washing it and fussing with it back to shavings caused itchy skin so now on paper, straw and hay but no matter how much paper I put it isn't enough for the pee. They use a litter tray as well as peeing where they want. I clean it with F10.

I just wish they made massive indoor cages with a sealed moulded plastic interior. I wish I knew what bedding to use that didnt cause problems and wasnt expensive.

I've used thin correx on my C&C and just put loads of strong gaffer tape on the corners (around & underneath) and it seems to have worked.

I put a thick layer of newspaper down first and then I use Walmsley Premierbed card bedding http://www.walmsleypremierbed.co.uk/ on top, which I've personally found to be the best for my 5 boys after trying a few different types of bedding. I'm lucky that I don't live too far from their place & I can buy direct from them at £5.50 for a 20kg bag but I think it's about £6 at other stockists.

I do a whole cage clean about 5-7 days but I spot clean their sleeping/poopie soiled areas every day. Putting an extra bit of newspaper under their hideys means you can just lift up that bit with all the mess on & just replace that area with fresh bedding. I hope you find a solution that suits both you and your piggies soon. :)

I also use a thick layer of newspaper and then Fitch recycled paper bedding. I find that works well. :)

i haven't had this problem either. i use either newspaper, fitch and then hay, or newspaper, absorbent bed pads and then fleece, or newspaper and then vetbed! :)

Hi Cheeky Chubbies,

I have seen the paper bedding usually on you tube watching guinea videos lol and wondered where it's from. I will look at the above link thanks. It's great if you live near somewhere that sells it, it's much easier than waiting for it to be delivered from the comp. and paying postage.

Thanks for reading,

S
