Would you like your own guinea pig website? If you are looking to create a website about your guinea pigs, rabbits (or whatever else..) I might be able to help you.

I have a certificate in web design and have created and modified business websites.

I would be able to sort out the domain name (such as www.mydomain.co.uk) as well as create the website for you.

I am doing this as a way to earn some extra money throughout the summer. As most of you are aware, I bought a place in February however solicitor, decorating and furniture expenses have left me feeling very much like a poor student! lol

People who do webdesign as a career ususally charge hundreds/thousands to create and modify simple websites. I would be willing to create websites for you MUCH MUCH less.

Some information about Web Design

The company I use to buy domains/web hosting charges...

£7.50 for
.co.uk .org.uk .me.uk
£20 for
.com .org .net .biz .info

This is the price for [*]TWO YEARS[/*] registration and would be payable by yourself.

Web hosting varies between £20 a year (£1.67 a month) up to £115 a year. If you only require a small website, the £20 a year package would be fine - I will assist you on the best package for what you require.

All of the web hosting packages come with different features - the basic package comes with 10 mailboxes (for example, [email protected] - x10 accounts)

--------

Another cheaper option is if I get enough people wanting websites, I still have registered my squeaky-pigs.co.uk domain. All you would need to pay for is a percentage of the hosting cost as well as the cost of creating the website. Your website address would be like

yourname.squeaky-pigs.co.uk

--------

If you have any questions please feel free to ask me on here or send me an e-mail [email protected] If you are interested in having a website created for you, please let me know what you would like doing and I will be able to give you a quote.

I have done work on my dad's business website - www.adamslube.com
My mum's old childminding website - www.debbiepostles.co.uk
I run Guinea Pig Rehome - www.guineapigrehome.org.uk
and of course this forum.

Sounds interesting Ellie. Peter has sent one up for us but haven't had much time to do anything with it. :)

ill email you later Ellie about this a definitely am interested in getting a quote off you (I'm at my moms at the moment so will contact you when I'm home)

Ok Chez :)

I am just sat at home, doing nothing... I would be able to start on people's websites straight away. I do have a job lined up this summer however they are messing me about at the minute. I enjoy doing websites and like I said, a lot of people are put off with a website getting created for them as it does cost £100s/£1000s. My dad was quoted £1600 to have pages added and edited to his business website. He offered me £800 to do it. I am not asking people for £800 or anywhere near that amount lol I am just saying that I am not here to rip people off at all.

There is no harm asking for a quote is there :)

I am creating a website for Chez :) Will be getting started on it as soon as I get all the information. Is there anybody else? :)

Just wanted to let you know that to create a website with one of the layouts below, with roughly 6 web pages (links) I am charging around £50. Most web designers would charge over £200 + for a website like that. If you are interested, send me a message, or add me on msn [email protected] - If you have any questions you can ask me! :)

hi ive already got website not fini yet but it on webs.com free for simple site....but thankyou for your post

These free websites comes with adverts and are not done properly in HTML. I am offering people to have a "professional" website - no adverts and their own domain name (if you wish)

I want to be a web designer when I grow up. We had a lesson about it in I.T. I know that's what I want to do, I'm getting so much better at HTML, CSS and even BBCode. Your prices are very fair, FREEWEBS offers packages like that for around 20-40 pound every six or so months. I'm sure lots of people will snap up the oppurtunity. Have ou thought about maybe placing an advert in the newspaper, just a small one? Or even the Yellow Pages or the likes? Good luck!

P.S. What do you have to study to get a certificate in Web Design? I'm guessing I.C.T, Maths and possibly Art or Phsycology?

I've added you on msn - you have fantastic timing as I was going to contact you this evening re website work on the off-chance you could help!

My msn is kirstynich2008 so you know who I am :)

To be honest, you don't really need any base qualifications to get into web design or development. It helps to have an artistic background but since most of web design is copying what someone else has done before you (most layouts are pretty standard: links to the top, left, right, following the page...) or you could hire or beg a graphics artist to make the site pretty for you - you don't even need that.

I'm studying computer science at univeristy just now and Web Applications is one of the optional classes which I have taken during the last semester which included php and javascript scripting. Before that we covered HTML/CSS briefly over a few weeks - html isn't something which is difficult to grasp at all; it's correcting mistakes which is especially if you get lost in your own code.

Even if you want a career in web design, keep in mind that the industry is pretty saturated just now; you might also want to have a look at consultancy (IT or Web Apps) for small to large scale businesses and try to do an internship with a local web design company to get yourself started.

Looks interesting, I will think of it first, then I'll let you know.. Someone told me about creating a free website in weebly.com, never try though...

Hi Jenny!

Let me know if you are interested... or if you have any queries I will do my best to answer them.

That is true, you don't need a qualification as such to become a web designer however if it is a career you would like to go into then I would suggest undertaking a course.

I did a HTML course at college when I was 15 - I could pretty much do websites before then but the course did help me in areas which I was unsure of. I did my course at my local college!

I write out all my HTML on notepad (a standard Window's programme).

I use Notepad to write my HTML too, and have several websites made with it. I got an A* for my HTML website in my I.C.T assesment earlier this year. It was a big website, not even hosted but just opened on Internet Explorer.

Just a question, would you do hosting. Say if I made my own website with the HTML, could you host that website for me? Not saying that I need one, but maybe for future reference.

P.S. I'm thirteen, so courses aren't an option at the moment. I'm just self-taught, with help from online tutorials and books.

Have you ever used Web Notepad? It gives you the same (ha, which is total!) control as notepad but it highlights the syntax for you.

You're right, I was self-taught when younger but, like what I got from my own classes, you do get a lot of structure and support from undertaking a course or an internship. This is particularly important if you want to learn PHP, IMO, since PHP is quite a ... wormy ... language :)

I haven't used Web Notepad no, I have researched it, it looks rather helpful but I have eyes like a hawk, so spotting mistakes in HTML and such comes naturaly to me :))

I've had experiences with PHP, you're right, it's extremly wormy. I spent about three months trying to fix one problem. Wasn't fun at all..

I'm planning on courses when I can get them, but for now I have to rely on the help of clever people like you :))

I just made a new website, took me like two hours. Here you go, check it out. Tell me what you think please, it will be nice to see what others think.
