OK we are now the proud owners of a nice triangle shaped (arc) style run with covered raised section so they can get out of the sun/rain if short sharp shower etc.
Anyway not really being used to runs yet - ours are indoor guinea pigs - we have took them out before in a fabric one but this has always been just for an hour or two while we are out there. So we now have this one and I am really pleased with it but do I have to wait for it to be a certain temperature for them to go out in it. yesterday was a nice day here and they were in it most of the day which was lovely they were in and out munching on grass and hiding in the covered/enclosed bit. But today is much cooler am I best to wait till later or would they be ok.
I know this is daft but i am just not sure! Thanks x

personally for mine I will have them out in the run if the ground is dry and the weather is not raining. I wont put mine out if the ground underneath my grass is damp mainly due to the fact my garden is very sheltered and the ground stays much colder, if they are sat on this for any length of time I dont feel this fair to them.

Temperature wise, I can put them out on a sunny warm day from march which will be cooler than the current british summer months, I wouldnt worry about the temperature especially if they have already had a few hours outside before your new run. The only thing you do have to be careful of if leaving them out for longer is not putting them out in scorching temps, if you cant bear to be outside for too long, then neither will they, wait for the day to cool off before putting them out in the shade.

Oh thats great thanks. It is still a bit damp this morning out there so will wait till it has dried up. I would not put them out in the rain it was more we wanted the enclosed area incase of the odd rain if we are out.
I will pop them out a bit later today - they seemed to love being outside yesterday it was a nice day here but not tooooo hot and after about 11 in the morning they are then in the shade due to trees etc over it for the rest of the day.

I don't put mine out unless it's at least 12-15 Celsius, but they're short-haired and just shiver or cuddle up in a pigloo together if it's colder, so I don't really see the point then! I think I've read about 65-80 Fahrenheit is ideal, but don't quote me. I've also read they can cope with cooler temps better than scorching ones. Mostly just make sure it's thoroughly dry, as Pepperdog says.

Congrats on your new run :) You could use it indoors or out, i use my runs both indoors and out, esp in warm/cooler weather.

lol that would be lovely but it wont fit through a door! We do have a fabric pop up sort of one which we use indoors. Or I just put a couple of blankets down and block off some areas in our living room and let them have free run in the evenings.

They seem to have really really enjoyed outside the past couple of days and I know this sounds daft but they seem more tired like it has worn them out. All that lovely fresh air!

I read somewhere 15 degrees at its lowest and 24 highest but I can't remember where! As long as the ground isn't too damp I would say our current weather is ok!

Thanks it was definitely ok today. I am so pleased with it I will try and pop a photo up but am fairly useless with technology!
