Hi. Last week Cookie had a head tilt which last 1-2 mins and has not happened since. I took him for a health check today was advices there was a lot of wax there but they did not have anything suitable at the vets as the vet was concerned that it might be too concentrated. They said I can get Epiotic online. Is this best thing to get at all? I’m in the uk so need something I can order. It will have to be drops to put in the ear. Thank you

Hi

I would follow your vet's advice. The outer ear is very much the same in guinea pigs as it is in dogs and cats, just a lot smaller.

Please do not try to pour anything down the ears; it will only make things worse and increase the pain. Be very careful with drops. A spray would be best as you may have to repeat the treatment.

Some piggies have a genetic disposition for ear wax, especially teddies. I was given a spray for my Nerys right ear (the left was always clear) but since that was over a decade ago, I cannot remember the product name.
