What is the highest setting I can do it at? Last time I put it on a 30 degree wool wash and they didn't clean properly. Is 60 too hot?

I just think also because they had lice/fleas or something, a hotter wash will make sure the fleeces are rid of them...

I will try 40 tonight, thanks. :)

I wash on 30 but use a stain remover as well as non bio detergent, to kill of nasties you need to wash above 70C but this will shrink your fleeces!

If you want to get rid of nasties you could always add some bleach/napisan to the wash and then do an extra rinse. I've done mine at 60 too but wouldn't recommend it. Mine got a bit felted and shrank. They still wick, though.

Fleece is usually washed at 40 as others have siad however when our pup had mites I banged all her fleece blankies in on a 60 and they wee fine (might depend on the quality of the fleece maybe). I guess if you washed them constantly on that high a setting they would deteriorate but once I don't think would hurt.

You may be able to make a solution of insecticide and soak them in that? then wash normally?

Just a thought - a random one - but if you put fleeces in a freezer would that kill the mites before washing like you can do with teddies to kill dust mites? I used to do this cos my son has asthma.

Yes, but they need to be in the freezer for 48 hours or something. We used to to that with head lice when I was little (helmets and stuff that couldn't go in the wash).
