Hi everyone

Need some advice. I have been washing our piggies cage liners and fleece in the washing machine, weekly. However, since having our two guinea pigs since October 2017 we have had 1 blockage in our washing machine and now again its happened. I know you can get bags to put them in for the machine.. for people that do this, does all the hair not get trapped? And then when drying does it not get everywhere when you take the fleece out. I can’t believe how much hair my piggies shed now there slightly older. The hay situation is fine we brush it off before it goes in the machine.

Any advice appreciated.

I use a horse wear bag. I shake off as much as possible off the fleece before washing. Any hair caught in the bag itself shakes off easily once washed. I use a dog hair mitt to get off any remaining hay/hair stuck on the fleece.

I wash a lot of fleece every weekend and my washer does well with it. With pop the filter out between cleans just to make sure there isn't a build up and our washer also has a tub clean function that cleans the tub after we've don'e washing the piggy stuff. IF your washer struggles though I do recommend a horse rug bag or tied pillow case.

Just a suggestion I take mine outside and throw a couple of kettle of water over it and some and keep throwing water over it till all the bubbles are gone then ring it out and leave it outside to dry and during the winter I use wood shavings.
Hope this helps.

I thought I was the only one who does this lol. I find they get setralised and smell amazing with boiling water.
