Hi team,

I'm calling on the help of you domestic gods and goddesses out there with this one.

So we've extended our c&c cage from 2x4 to 2x6. The new fleece has just arrived and I'm doing the first wicking wash with the 2x6 fleece. I've had problems in the past where the washing machine hasn't liked the guinea pig wash and I've pulled it out soaking wet after the machine couldn't work out how to spin it at high speed. So paranoid about it happening again I've only put one of the 2x6 fleeces in but it would seem my machine is still struggling to balance it out enough to spin safely.

So anyone got any ideas? Am I doomed to forever hang these new fleeces to drip dry over the bath forever more? Or have I been so paranoid that I should have put the smaller fleecy items in too?

Is it just a fleece or is it a fleece liner that will absorb water and get heavy?
I use a horse wash bag. I don’t have fleece liners - just fleece blankets - but I put in all the fleece floor covering from my 7 x 2 Cage - that’s usually 2 fleeces, one bathmat and a couple of pee pads. My machine usually copes with that on a cottons wash with a fast spin.

I use a large horse wash bag for my cage liners. I try not to over fill it as the machine cant spin properly when its packed.

I just make sure that there is plenty of empty space in the machine. Good luck!

I overfill ours at times things come out so wet, great advice.

It’s better to put in less than you think.
