Hi all,

I know I'm not going to adopt for a while yet but as I'm on holiday for 10 days I thought I might spread the cost out a bit and make some pads to go in corners/ under houses etc. I have the fleece and a waterproof mattress cover but I don't know what weight of wadding to get. It goes from 2oz upwards. any ideas?

I'm going to make a c and c cage and have part of it with vetted with puppy pads underneath. will that be sufficient or will I need something else? I have so much to learn :-)

I have a c and c cage with double layer fleece pads without wadding (made by me) that cover the floor of the cage with puppy pads underneath. Can't help with the wadding issue as haven't used it. I have fleece inserts under the houses that I also made and which I change daily (they seem to wee most in their houses!). I change the cage liners twice a week. When taking them out of the cage shake outside to get off hay etc, then I wash them in an old duvet cover with non bio powder and vinegar as neutraliser. My piggies also have snuggle sacs which I haven't made for them. A lap blanket is also useful and easy to make. Have fun preparing for your piggies x

Thank you VickiA :-) I want to try making something like a lap pad with a waterproof layer in to put in areas of the vet bed or fleece where they decide to wee a lot. I thought it might be easier to change them frequently than the main bedding. I want a couple of kitchen areas with disposable bedding and hay in and it would be rather nice if they became the main toilet areas .... The ideas are buzzing :-) Got lots of decorating to do first before I can design a cage. I've bought a couple of hay racks!

Sounds like you have it all in hand. Lucky piggies whoever they are to come to a properly designed and furnished home ;)

You won't need anything else. Vetbed works just like fleece, wicks urine down to whatever you have below the vetbed. So long as what's under the vetbed can absorb the urine you're OK.

Thanks Ladies. I've ordered all my bits and will hopefully be sewing at the end of the week! :)
