Hiya, our piggies live in our shed. It’s not heated so we have done the following:
Put insulation around the hutch, put plenty of hay in for warmth along with plenty of tunnels, and add in two heat pads twice a day. The hutch has a cover on and at night we cover it with a 13tog duvet with emergency foil blankets on top. Is there ANYTHING else I should be thinking of? Weather is due to get colder (if that’s even possible).

I have my girls in a hutch in a shed & they have extra hay, Snugglesafe heatpads were what I used to use SnuggleSafe Pet Heat Pad with Cover - Assorted | Free UK Delivery

But the last couple of yrs I've used this Petnap whelping pad
Flexiguard Pet Heat Pad | Petnap Metal Heat Pad chewproof
I bought it from Petnap as it was cheapest at the time, but eBay & amazon did it too. (ps if you're registered with amazon smile or easyfundraising then you can donate towards TEAS Guinea pig dental etc charity too for free :D... Depending on the retailer you buy from)

It comes in 3x different sizes, with a protective cover over the electric flex & a fleece pad for the metal heating plate.
It doesn't get very hot, but stays at approx body temperature & keeps the chill off.

I have an old duvet over the top of the hutch which gets pulled down over at night, make sure they've still got enough ventilation though.

My girls stay lovely, warm & toasty  x

Sounds great. our heat pads are snuggle safe too. The flexiguards look great but they are electric aren’t they? We don’t have electric in our shed.

Thanks for that. Sounds great set up. our heat pads are snuggle safe too. The flexiguards look great but they are electric aren’t they? We don’t have electric in our shed.

Mine live in an unheated shed.
They have a thermal cover on their hutch, then two thick blankets, then another hutch cover, then a thick duvet.
Inside the hutch is stuffed full with hay, they have a couple wooden houses stuffed with hay and with a blanket over the top of them to keep the warmth in. They have a snugglesafe in the houses and in between them - I use four snugglesafes between my two piggies.

Aww that's a shame, the electric pads are lovely to keep the chill off, would it be possible to get a weatherproof extension lead from the house to the shed?

But the Snugglesafes stay hot for about 6-8hrs so they should be fine overnight
Try staggering the heating of the Snugglesafes as you have more than one& they'll overlap/extend the heating time :D

Sounds like they shouldn't be too cold with all the things you have in place to keep them cosy :luv:
Xx
